  1. Give me 5 seconds, and even you won't think that anymore.
  2. I will wait for DayZ standalone. I have absolutely no interest in a blatantly lazy, schlock-fest. I don't mind the ArmA mechanics, it produces a need to be familiar with and understanding of tactics, concealment, and evasion, not to mention teamwork. If you want to play MMO CoD zombie maps, go for it. I'd rather a more realistic, high-tension filled experience, than a ridiculous rambo bullet fest where your itchy trigger finger will be more use than an utter detriment.
  3. Stasis fields and warp travel. We'll need Geller fields, next. Then Aryte ascends to the Golden Throne...
  4. Please note, that the essay is separate from the other parts of your information in the application, like a condensed history of your service in the Ordo and you name, rank, branch of service/legion, merits, etc, etc, etc. Two separate things, sent to me in an email. If you have issues with formatting a WordPad or similar free document writing program, consider using OpenOffice and submitting your finished essay in .rtf format. All essays must be sent as emails. All other submissions and formats will be automatically denied ( I will provide lenience to those who have already sent an email but didn't understand this, but I will not inform them of their error). Part of the purpose involved in this process is to determine who has the ability to follow simple directions, research information without being told the minor details, then submit the appropriate information for review. It may seem arbitrary, but it does matter. The Guard is not here to hold the hands of its applicants: You must be capable of both following orders, and showing your own initiative and correcting errors before the finished product is submitted. If you're completely lost, you can ask me for advice, but I will not write an essay for you, I will not tell you what to write beyond the simple instructions provided, and I will not give you a lesson in grammar standards. The onus of this task is upon those who wish to join the Guard, they must be capable of meeting the challenges provided, and believe me, a simple application is not the most difficult one you will face.
  5. Afevis will not be in a list, nor any other currently active Praetorian. The Guard will operate as it's own Legion.
  6. http://www.csus.edu/owl/index/mla/mla_format.htm <<< Link to a basic run down of MLA formatting. If you submit it to Google Docs, it must have a link sent to me via email and it must be accessible by others, otherwise it will be automatically denied. Also, questions are best levied via private message to myself.
  7. I like my Drake. Ain't nobody gonna take it off my hands. >:(
  8. If you do not meet qualifications, but still wish to apply, the application is your best bet to convince the Guard you're suited for service with us.
  9. The Ordo Imperialis Praetorian Guard Candidacy Selection Method Document Issued by Agares Tretiak, Lord Praefectus, Praetorian Guard Hail, warriors of the Imperator. In sight of the recent shift to our new Legion system of organization, the Praetorian Guard will no longer hold Candidacy Trials. Our system will become more handpicked and prospective Praetorians will be vetted prior to induction as initiates. Selected initiates will then participate in a multi-stage initiation training program to further ascertain their suitability to be a Praetorian. The initiation process will be using many of the aspects some might recognize from the Praetorian Guard Candidacy Trials, but will focus more on developing skills and a combination of testing and training scenarios. To honor our obligations to this great organization, we are also increasing our standards for possible candidates. They will be listed below: 1. Rank of E-5 or higher 2. 1 year of service in the Ordo Imperialis. 3. A thorough and clean sweep of your background, alts, and Curia records. Withholding information will be grounds for removal and barring from all future selections. 4. Service in an Alpha Squad or similar elite unit within the Ordo (or Tier 1). 5. Taken and passed the NCO Academy. 6. Demonstrated combat skills and cooperation within the Ordo Imperialis. 7. Demonstrated high level of activity. Some of these might be waived in specific circumstances, but depends solely on the discretion of the Lord Praefectus. The Guard is a purely volunteer organization. Being asked to participate is an honor, but you are not required to participate in the selection if you do not desire to join the Praetorian Guard. Members of the Guard are expected to uphold the strictest intereptation of the Ordo Imperialis' standards and ideals and be both highly skilled soldiers and competent leaders in combat. The Guard sacrifice standard officer level authority to focus solely on combat skills and leadership, and do not serve in other Legions, though special permission is granted to help fulfill assignments in the Agentus in Rebus and the Curia. For this selection period, the Guard will be allowing applications, but only three will be selected to participate. Make certain, applicants, that you meet most, if not all of the requirements above. All other positions will be handpicked. Applications must consist of an applicants name, rank, branch of service, a condensed history of your service in the Ordo, a list of any and all alts and previous SLMC military experience, and a seperate one(1) page essay (MLA format is required as is proper english grammar and spelling) explaining why you wish to serve in the Praetorian Guard. Applications must be issued to the following email address: [email protected] with the subject line following this format: "<Applicant Name> - Praetorian Candidate Application" Failure to meet any of the above requirements will result in your immediate denial to participate. There are no appeals or second tries. Do not issue an application before the selection begins. Applications sent to anyone else in the Guard, or via forum PM will also be denied. The selection application period will begin on 9-25-2012 and run until 10-2-2012. If you have questions, please send a forum Private Message to the Lord Praefectus. He can answer and provide any and all information you might require. Do not try to contact the Imperator about Praetorian Guard applications or Selection: Doing so will be an automatic denial.
  10. Err. A plane, rather. My principle was kind of a twit, though.
  11. I remember being in my sophomore year of high school in Kansas, and the Principle walks into the Spanish class I was sitting in, and tells the teacher a building hit the world trade center. My immediate reaction was asking "Has anyone claimed responsibility for the attack?" and him giving me a confused, scared look before leaving the room. I left the classroom after him and headed to the Library where a television was set up. I watched the second airplane hit the tower on live television. I learned to hate Kansas after that. A clique of the seniors started laughing at the anchor as they literally screamed and continued to laugh as the whole horror of it unfolded before my eyes on the screen. One of them couldn't contain himself and made jokes about firefighters who stumbled out of the ash and wreckage as the first tower had fallen. I had to leave the room before I beat the ever living shit out of them. I didn't even bother trying to go to school the next day. In the ensuing weeks, the same group of jocks expressed the socially accepted moral outrage that was rampant in the aftermath of the attacks. I could only watch them with cold skepticism and a pit of loathing that has not left me for insincerity and lip-service.
  12. This is pertinent to my interests. What's a MAX exactly, and what sort of team dynamics are we talking about? ArmA 2 or Battlefield pacing?
  13. I know next to nothing about this game. What I do know is I like the sound of the TR.
  14. Yeeeaaaahh...I gunned down an entire enemy team with one.

(My biggest recommendation is that you try to space out the blocks of text a little more, to make it easier to read)
  16. Remember, when fighting your standard alien scum, that if their acidic blood or organs blind you, it's your battle buddy who will drag you to the nearest emergency chemical eye-wash station.
  17. To ignore. Oh, I suppose you can try. But it leaves a nice, clear presentation to everyone on where we all stand, so when it comes to that aforementioned disciplinary action (which I'd truly regret having to take), everyone is perfectly clear why it went down. I like a visible and clear form of remedial due process. It makes it so much harder to lie about what steps were taken (such as a warning). So I ask you Krow, if you've got anything to add here, or are you simply here to try to defend the indefensible prior acts of Mr. Reisman? I believe the topic at hand is a possible Deathwatch RPG GM'd by our own great Blaze Wiles. I'd like to play, I just have a rather strict take on the rules, so I'm not sure how closely they will be followed (as each GM has their own style, which is fine).
  18. Salem is right, of course. You can run whole campaigns, online with markers an everything. Of course, it's not quite the same as a full on video game, but video games odn't give you the same scale of interaction (9/10 of the time) or freedom of action that a true tabletop RPG can provide. Or the flexibility. It depends on what you need or want out of the whole experience.
  19. That's the one point you kinda have me at. "For the Emperawr!" "Kill the Witch, the Heretic, but not the Mutant." "Cleanse it with cuddles!" That is the only reason I likely will not play Deathwatch RP, unless we're doing it strictly canon. :| And to answer your question Krow, no. A private message is pretty easy to ignore if the person in question is liable to do so. Public messages... not so easy to do that with...
  20. I got it. I like it. I wish it had some slight changes to the way the weapons work, but I'm overall pleased.
  21. George, this must be asked. Are you in this thread to contribute meaningful insights, or are you simply here to waste space as Blaze tries to set this up and be an annoyance? Because if it's the former, you have yet to do so. If it is the latter, disciplinary action can be arranged. I leave it up to you which it will be, if you decide to persist. After all, your precious 'minutes' seem to be wasted here.
  22. You live in Finland. You have an Arch-nemesis, and it's called the ARCTIC WINTER. Oh, and Russia.
