  1. Sometimes one may feel that they have hit a wall and are not quite sure where to go. Or, perhaps they would like to have a better idea on how to demonstrate their character and abilities to acquire higher responsibilities. Maybe someone just needs a person to talk to in order to help develop an idea they may have, or to help solve a problem. Should anyone find themselves in such a situation, they should feel free to speak with me. I offer my services as a Career Counselor. Counseling sessions are informal in nature and confidential, unless prior consent is given to share information. To share a little about myself for those who may not know me, I enlisted in April of '08 and served Ordo until late '10. I was Praefectus of Astra for almost two years. I also had the joy of being a Schola Magister for a short time back in '08. Every counseling session is different, but what is typically explored are one's desires for themselves and the group; strengths and areas in which one requires improvement, a discussion pertaining to one's surrounding and how one may best take advantage of their niche, general tips for success, and specific examples of quantifiable tasks that can be accomplished. Feel free to contact me in world. We can usually conduct a session on the spot. Sessions typically last anywhere between 30-45 minutes. Hope to hear from ya.
  2. One time we had a grand tournament in that giant rezzable maze arena that Keno constructed in the first incarnation of Chronus (when it was linked to the lava sim). We did like pistols versus pistols and stuff and had a ladder. If we can construct such a thing we could have more events like that.
  3. I remember that time we all watched that new rambo movie together. Awesome time. Maybe we can have a similar experience again with movies.
  4. It is my personal belief that it is best for one to concentrate on one division. Specifically, when it comes to later in one's career. For an enlisted working within Schola, Curia, etc., it is infinitely helpful in both bolstering those divisions and demonstrating one's character. If that enlisted should one day join the administratio, the responsibility for their officer post in whatever division they reside increases. It is at this point that I like to encourage people to make sure they know their limits, and see whether or not they are truly able to give every position they hold their 100%. Most of the time this is not the case. In short, concentrating on one division will give a soldier the opportunity to give it their all. I do not like the idea of an individual doing the "bare minimum" for each role they fill because they are concentrating on multiple roles in the group.
  5. Hello, everyone! After much consideration and with Heather Mckay's approval, I've opted to withdraw myself from retirement and return to active duty as a Consiliator that specializes in career counseling. At the conclusion of this week, a new policy is being implemented for those who submit an OCA: As of Sunday, April 3, 2011, all officer candidates are required to schedule and attend career counseling at the conclusion of their OCA interview. Any officer candidates who have submitted an OCA prior to this date may schedule and attend career counseling at their own volition. Those who have not submitted an OCA are able to request and attend career counseling at their own request, regardless of rank. The objective of the career counselor is to analyze officer candidates based upon their performance, well being, and opinions voiced by the Administratio and through periodic constructive observation and counseling provide a basis for which conducive behaviors and practices can be promoted as required for officer promotion. In other words, counseling serves as a tool to help groom individuals for the transition from enlisted to Administratio. Counseling sessions are informal in setting and are confidential. Should information arise that requires the attention of the Administratio, consent of the one being interviewed will be required. You can contact myself in world, Sosarin Demar, to schedule a counseling session. If we are both available at the time, we can do them on the fly impromptu. I wish everyone striving for a position amongst the Administratio the best of wishes! I am here for you.
  6. I remember a time when we had scarce an attacker for a long, long while. Two years back -- lava sim. Those were dismal times. I prefer the constant attacking to that, in hindsight.
  7. Thank you for your service and enjoy your retirement. You deserve it.
  8. Yeah ... 'cause you know Astra is talking about making their own recruitment stuffs and. Trying to recruit and. Make things better. Then this. I feel ya.
  9. Thumbs up! Thanks you could help, bro
  10. EQ2 is way different than it was years ago. I've played it off and on over the past 5 years and it's changed dramatically over time. If you played it in recent year or two though its still about the same. And I agree with Bizcut.
  11. Cool bacon. I'm Sosarin or Krelkain in world. Typically on Krelkain. If you press "Y" you can add me as a friend. It'll let you know when I pop online. I'll do the same for ya and keep my eyes peeled.
  12. Star Trek: Next Generation Season 3 and beyond is a good place to start. Season 1 was very rough and had a corny edge to it (reminiscent of the original Star Trek). Season 2 they start to get out of the rut but some of the kinks are still there.
  13. Ah I forgot to mention. There's some bugs with their new launcher. It's a pain in the ass but if you experience those let me know. Details here: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2x/posts/list.m?topic_id=1502
  14. So, EverQuest 2 now has a "free to play" version. />http://www.everquest2.com/free_to_play The restrictions are a little complex and ludicrous and there really is no graceful way of saying that you're playing a restricted game. However, if you can accept some of the restrictions it's not as restricted as you might think. It'll probably help to have no idea of what those restrictions actually mean, too. For example, some of the restrictions are: *Class and race selection is limited. *Inventory and Bank space is limited. *Amount of coin you can have is limited. *Access to all game content barring the latest expansion (up to level 80, this essentially granting you 90% access to the entire game, which is incredible to be honest.) *Unable to access the broker (EQ's version of WoW's auction house) *Cannot equip legendary or fable items (bad for you if you get 70+) *Cannot learn expert of master spells (bad for you if you get 80+) If you end up playing the game a lot though you might end up subscribing. It's like an uber glorified free trial. You essentially have access to all areas of the game, barring the latest expansion which is going to be level 80-90 content mostly. There are guilds out there dedicated to being entirely "free" though, so don't worry if you feel like you may be pressured to subscribe. If you've played the game before, you might be. This is all in "beta", so who knows where this experiment may go. The upside is that this is all on one server, so there's tons of new players and it all feels fresh. So, it's a good time to come in. ------------------------------------------------------------ Let's talk about basic, dumbed-down MMO history for a moment. Once upon a time there was Ultima Online. It was cool and stuff. It set the term "MMORPG". For you younglings that missed that experience -- for shame. Afterward there was EverQuest, which came out in 1999. EverQuest was 3D and more or less made us shat our pants in those days. While it would eventually set out the groundwork for mainstream MMO's today, it ironically was quite a piece of shit at launch. No one really knew how to do a quest in those days. We just grinded our nutsack on various flora and fauna for ex-pees. We eventually learned, though. As the some odd 17 expansions or so of EverQuest were released the game evolved. For many years EverQuest was like the kingpin of mainstream MMO's. Sure, there was Dark Ages of Camelot and Anarchy Online, but as amazing those MMO's were I don't consider those to be as popular as EverQuest was. Anyway, they decided to capitalize on its success by making a sequel -- EverQuest 2. EverQuest 2 was going to sport a game engine that would last for years, have hours and hours of recorded dialogue, and so on. Boy oh boy was it a piece of shit when it was released. All of "making-of" EverQuest videos seemed to be a joke. Interviews with Christopher Lee, who voiced a character in EQ2 and had little to no idea what was going on, made it more amusing. Then World of Warcraft came out. World of Warcraft essentially took the same mold that EverQuest had created and refined it. World of Warcraft didn't really pioneer a whole lot, but it did a damn good job of making it work and marketting itself. World of Warcraft is now the MMO all MMO's aspire to be, and I feel that its success has been so great that it has cast a big shadow on EverQuest and the other big MMO's prior to its day. However, despite the shoddy launch of EQ2, the game persisted. The team worked on and eventually made the game playable, and in fact fun. However by then it was too late. WoW was in full bloom and I don't think Sony will see the millions of millions of subscribers it once had again under an EQ title. /historyend A lot of people will compare EQ2 to WoW and you can't blame that. Both MMO's are attempting to accomplish the same thing, although they have different tones and ways of doing it. I never could get into WoW, but whenever I needed my "WoW" fix I played EQ2. I've played EQ2 off and on for the last five years. If you want to play a WoW style MMO of that quality and such, give this a try. I'll be on the (only) freeport server. It's what I've been doing the last few days and I've had some fun.
