The controversy of healthcare in America.

Recommended Posts

I'm taking some kinda easy A gen-ed class at school and had to write this series of short essays on various things and on one of them, I had to write about a controversial issue and defend both sides. I came up with this:

Out of the myriad of issues facing America today, the most controversial at this moment is that of healthcare. Nearly 1/3 of Americans are currently unable to afford healthcare, an alarming statistic for as wealthy a nation as the United States. In light of this, there is a growing movement in America in support of socialized healthcare, a solution that has arguably benefited other western nations, primarily in Europe, by providing free healthcare to citizens who would not otherwise be able to afford it. However, in spite of the vocal movement in support of adopting socialized medicine, a movement which includes and is primarily led by president Obama himself, there is an equally large opposition to the adoption of socialized healthcare, believing that socialized healthcare would lead to higher taxes, as well as other socialistic elements of government, which in the mind of your average neoconservative Republican, is the first step toward turning America into a Godless Marxist dictatorship where jackbooted hope-thugs savagely batter old church ladies with truncheons for daring to so much as think about freedom and/or Bibles. Clearly there is no easy solution to this problem immediately at hand and only time will tell if I will one day be able to go to the doctor for free because I twisted my ankle while running from the cops after the lady that owns the Steak n’ Shake called the police on me and my friends because I got in a fight with Bobby because he was throwing salt shakers at me because I said Insane Clown Posse was the worst band of the 20th century or any century ever and he is a freaking idiot and I will NEVER party with him again. This is the controversy of healthcare in America.

My teacher actually has horses on her residence, so likely not.

What I'm really more counting on is that my teacher has a sense of humor.

I am honestly completely incapable of doing a writing assignment without it becoming humorous after about the fifth sentence. One time for my final exam in a writing class, we had to write a paper that supported year-round schooling and I devoted a whole paragraph to explaining how a lifetime of summer vacation laxity led the Delta Tau Chi house at Faber university to ruin the town's parade after Dean Wermer put them on double-secret probation. If you don't get the reference, I pity you to no end.
