  1. If you shop around for a new computer, know that laptops just aren't made for gaming. And you get what you pay for. I built my computer by buying all the parts. I payed a fraction of what a company like alienware would have charged, and I got a cooler case than they offer.

The core issue with a laptop is that you can't upgrade it easily. And there is no way to upgrade the graphics card on one.

  2. I re-captured a number of facilities yesterday just by sitting still on a roof till everyone ran off to the next hotspot.

Also had a very good run as a medic together with another medic, we infiltrated and took down all but the central shielding in the zaruva(or something) place after it had been taken over by those purple bastards. This allowed other infantry to roll in and re-take the place.

Though it almost feels that when this game comes out of beta, that the map will be too small.

It's only one quarter of the main map, I'm being told. There will be four continents, like in the original. And I'm hearing about transport to other planets to fight on them, too.

  3. I would like to add that this is the only set of rules you really need right now. Don't convolute the game with all this crap nobody's going to read or practice anyway. Leave it at ART and let people be smart enough to know how to fight.

Also, commander should give orders only to squad leaders, not an entire channel. Such as "Hey, take the alpha point." The squad leader will give more specific orders to his men.

  4. If you guys truly want to split up into channels, here's how you do it.

Team Commander/General whatever (Usually in a channel by himself or with a very small command squad)

Can speak to all channels, can speak to all squad leaders, can speak to squad leaders individually

Squads get their own channel, one squad leader per channel per squad

Squad leaders can talk to the commander, squad leaders can talk to their men.

It's better to name each squad, then use your numpad to correspond with those squads (provided you're the commander). You'll probably have to write down the squad names with the number to remember. Then write who's in command of what. So when you press numpad 7 to talk to Hitman Actual, your paper should look like "7 Squad - Hitman - Ron Bleac." It's good practice to have a squad name for each number on your numpad. It should be universal for all commanders, so write it up somewhere on the forums. If this gets as big as you guys want it to, you'll end up using those keys, trust me.

Just name the squads for now. The commanders of those squads will shift. Put a call out on the PS2 forums and say that Ordo is hosting a "walk-ins" night on Saturday and include our TS info. You'll have a whole week to practice this channel commander thing and get the channels set up.

Ask questions, I'll answer. Source: I was doing this while most of you were in Junior High. (BF1942 League, BF2142 League)

  5. Tactics go to shit pretty quick. Sitting around for 30 minutes planning isn't very helpful.

Saw this way too much in Arma2. Sit around for an hour planning and gearing up, then the attack fails in the first five minutes because of some idiots (Or because it was a shitty plan).

  6. Have lead a lot of group actions in Arma2 I can tell you that too much planning will just bog you down. At one port or another, you need to just let people use their own judgement. Just something to keep in mind. Don't get so into SOP that you have procedures for taking a dump.

Also, don't forget that this is for fun. We shouldn't smother this game with rules beyond the ART stuff.

  7. Ah man, that Granola bar was great.

Anyway, not sure command should be the lead tank. It's always the first one to go in an ambush. He should be closer to the center so he can better survey the entire column during travel and while it's under attack. Go check out some of Patton's old tank tactics. Best tank commander the world has ever known.
