  1. If an item is no-modify and has resize scripts, quite often the resize scripts have a self-delete function you can select from the menu. Naturally you will only want to use that on a copy of the item. If there's no delete function (which is pretty rare) then contact the creator and ask for a refund, because it's completely retarded to have resize scripts in your attachments after you've already set them to the correct size. Also RE: setting a script to not running... don't do that. Delete the scripts.
  2. In case anyone is curious about what's the difference between actually REMOVING a script and just disabling it, all scripts (even efficient ones) will eat up a small amount of script time and server memory, even when they're disabled. It may seem minor but it all makes a difference when the sim starts to choke in heavy combat.
  3. The Imperator mentioned during one of our weekly meetings that people could remain on sim during extended AFK, but they should preferably do so in the armory to prevent confusion.
  4. If nothing else I certainly appreciate the effort that went into making this happen. It couldn't have been easy to get us off the ban list. Let's make the most of it and see how long this lasts. If Ordo is banned again it will be Bruno being Bruno, so we don't have to stress over it... and if (when?) it happens we don't lose much, since I doubt we'll see any further diplomatic effort with them. They will just ban themselves into a corner and fade away, leaving nothing but an example of how not to run a military group.
  5. I'm on the fence about this. On one hand it makes the unlocks more valuable. Depending on how unlocks of heavy weapons are handled (with perhaps extra education on appropriate deployment or something) it could also limit heavy weapon use to those who are qualified for them. I don't know if this is going to be part of the idea though. On the other hand the unlocks are supposed to be a reward (free gun woo) and rather than rewarding people, this rule would withhold things from them instead... things they probably already own, considering that most of us spend some money on guns just for variety. We also have rules in place already to limit the use of explosive weapons (issued or commercial) and not many commercial explosives even qualify for our use. And finally, this is probably going to open up a whole new realm of enforcement issues. As for jetpacks, we don't want absolutely everyone to use a jetpack all the time, but unlike heavy weapons we seem to have no rule currently to limit their deployment... other than having to unlock it first. So I think that rule should stay for sure on jetpacks unless there's a better solution in the works.
  6. How do I put this in a nice way... You won't get the full story from them. Of course they are trying to justify what they did. But we have 7 people with a suspiciously similar attitude who all left in a short time. They did not show up in New Jessie one day and see a poster advertizing Mazzy's group and decide to try their luck in a different military. There's been some breeding of malcontent here and recruitment from within our ranks.
  7. As Tsume and I have both noticed (probably more of you too), these guys will hand you one gun to review, then use a different one when you okay it. The gun they hand us is bad enough as it is, but the one they use is much more ridiculous. That is completely dishonest, and I expect that they'll whip up some new name for the same thing again, to further waste our time.
  8. This is nice useful info. Things are always changing around here, so some of this is being addressed constantly (like heavy weapon limitations and defense positions.) It all seems pretty much in line with our goals. I try to give cadets a tour personally if I'm around and not busy, to help them get oriented. Lately I haven't been around as much though. I agree it would be nice if we had an official tour at the end of schola. :)
  9. I bought it. I'm also a sucker for co-op. Let's hope the bugs have been ironed out.
  10. This has always been important net etiquette, but it's especially valid for a professional/military board. Smooth function and usability for everyone should outweigh vanity, so sig files should be reasonable. In my opinion if you're using the Ordo Imperialis: Evolution skin (which has rank and group info on the right like in Sosarin's snapshots) and post a 1-line message, your entire post with sig should not extend significantly below the minimum block size. Here is a labeled example image of a nice, considerate sig size (taken from this very thread and masked like the professionals do it. No way you can ever figure out who it is.)
  11. I'd like to second/third/whatever this. The jetpack is NOT a portable 40 meter tall sniper tower. If it's abused too much, we'll have to lower its max height significantly. You can use jetpacks for combat maneuverability... they are very convenient for quickly getting on top of the terraformer or the primary wall, among other things. But please don't use them to vertically "flank" enemies taking cover in the red zone. On the mortar: you have to clear mortar use with the OIC, but my rule of thumb is that we really don't need them unless an enemy is engaging us from out of line of sight (in other words if they're using a grenade launcher, mortars, or whatever themselves.) If they do that, they're asking for a hail of explosives. No mercy. Otherwise, we're good enough to beat them with the same thing they're using... bullets.
  12. Correct, ARC is totally unrelated to script time. ARC is there purely to give people a basic idea of their visual processing cost (what they're doing to people's framerates.) We don't have a rule on ARC that I know of, and it's kind of a broken function (the results are extremely inaccurate) but you probably want to voluntarily keep it below a huge number like 10,000. The slung SCAR's script time is minimal... a single script with a single touch event. It will probably bump your script time up by 0.009 or something ridiculous. I personally don't wear it due to the rendering cost, but you won't see a noticable script time difference. edit: Forgot to mention this (and it should probably go without saying) but it's considerate to remove any extra attachments such as the SCAR sling and even the SCAR itself during weekly meetings. Small things add up when there's 30 of us in the same room.
