You don't need the partition if you have alternate restoration media. You can either burn the HP provided media, download MS-official install ISOs from DigitalRiver (MS's online distribution partner, links here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/ ), or both. Personally, I have no use for OEM supplied installs, as I like creating everything from scratch. What you could do, however, is get your system created to a state where you are happy, create a system image (read: a snapshot saved to external media such as a large USB pendrive, or external HDD), and then use that for future restorations if you wanted to prevent from having to reconfigure from scratch. The benefit here is you can both eliminate the 53 GiB partition, have the OS-reinstall disc, and have OEM reinstall media, if you'd like. To answer your question directly: No, if you have the OEM reinstall discs you create, or Windows reinstall media for your license type, you do not need the partition. I'd actually recommend making the discs, or downloading the official Win7Pro ISO now, as in the not-entirely-unlikely event your HDD decides to begin clicking, then commit seppuku, your 53 GiB recovery partition would not help you in that case (since the recovery media is on the HDD itself). As an aside, I really am wondering why on earth they are taking up 53 GiB... that image you linked does not seem to explain why it is needed... Windows seems to be able to do all of those features on its own (Shadow copies, Startup repair, etc.)--save the recovery disc creation.

Because this works better in text... From me, for Tactica: For those who haven’t seen the posting yet, the Ordo is trying to stoke the flames of the SLMC, by bringing in new blood. As such, Tactica was tasked with locating roleplay regions with adboards for advertising the SLMC, and likely the Ordo in particular. Realizing that the Ordo as a whole would likely have a grander idea of what RP regions are out there, Tactica has been authorized to enact the following bounty. For each verified RP region with adboards, five (5) QP shall be awarded to a maximum of fifty (50) QP per person. For each region selected at the conclusion of the bounty program, ten (10) QP shall be awarded, up to an indefinite limit per person, determined by how many regions are selected by the contracting party. From myself for Tactica: Relatively normal week for Tactica. First off, Order of Light who occupies the region Mind Game, has completed the region's build after ... at least a month, if not two or more of being in the initial build state. At the time of this report, their region was open, but damage was off. Additionally, CATI, who as some of you may know has recently moved to a Full sim, named Village. They have moved yet /again/, and are now in the region named Warzone, which is mercifully still a full region. Finally, we would like to welcome DaveyDarkStrider Oh to the roster. Please shower him with gifts such as compasses, GPS devices, and other navigational devices, such as an astrolabe. This concludes this week's report for Tactica. From myself for Praescius: Relatively quiet week for Praescius. Of note, pending approval by Alpha command, Praescius's color has been chosen as a teal/blue, with the primary color of 0x009B95 (The color can be easily seen at ( http://goo.gl/BEzX0 ), and is the middle color of the three. Additionally, further talks have taken place with Alpha command, which will hopefully culminate in the appointing of an Executive Officer for Praescius. Stay tuned for more information!

As a general principle, I strive to ensure all decisions I make are unbiased, as I have found that a decision made on biased grounds never works well for either party in the long run. If and when I suspect a bias may be present in my decision making processes, I would seek another person to whom I can pass off the decision to, and mention that in an effort to ensure that a fair and impartial decision is reached, I needed to hand off the matter due to a perceived bias. As a member of Curia, I hope to bring another unbiased mind to the Officium Curia, and render my assistance at ensuring that the policies and regulations of the Ordo Imperialis upheld with the highest regard.
