All pilots beware.

Essentially, Praeda needs to be half throttle there.

Aircraft Specification Document

11/5/08

The Aircraft Specification Document is to explain entirely the new regulations in which the Militant Collective will be holding all physical flying vehicles to. These are due to the long running abuse of said vehicles from secondary battlefield weapons, to tools that border on griefing.

1. History

2. Philosophy

3. Specifics

4. Policy

1. The history of SL air combat originally began with the ZX4 and other "first generation" aircraft. While aircraft were an annoyance to groups, they were easily dispatched by intelligent infantry and weaponry was not effective or large enough to seriously disrupt battlefield operations or sim performance.

The introduction of the ABATS, Katar, Mamba, and other "second generation" started the pressing need for air superiority at any cost. The STABLE treaty was designed around the AN Talon and its, then, extremely high powered weaponry. Merczateers were forced to also develop a new craft, the Uriel, to compete with the talon and other "third generation" aircraft.

By this time, the missile debate was at its peak. What was fair, what was absurd, what was a autokiller, simply? Even then, aircraft were NOT the main weapons of armies. They were considered a secondary weapon to all groups except the AN, who traditionally focused on air mobility.

Today, "fourth generation" vehicles that boast ever increasing speed, firepower, and evasive systems -are- the main tools of many groups. These vehicles trade the missiles for bullets. The race to see who can fill the sky with more physical objects is not healthy for sim stability, nor does it convey any remotely realistic concept of air combat.

2. The philosophy currently is do not hold back. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING goes, provided it is on a vehicle. This is not acceptable for infantry. This is not acceptable for ground vehicles, aircraft should not be different.

Aircraft should try to duplicate the concept of flight and dogfighting, rather than the current system. They should have logical limitations. Infantry rifles cannot have more than 200 rounds. You cant carry an artillery piece. Aircraft should not carry non reloading cannons with 4+ rez slaves, and also bombs and explosive shells.

The Militant Collective recognizes they are not alone in the realization that full use of aircraft inhibits an otherwise infantry oriented fight. The 39th Blackwatch have proven that aircraft are -not- required to secure victory in defense or attack.

The Militant Collective, with or without the support of its allies, enemies, and neutral parties, proclaims that it will begin enforcing logical limits on aircraft for three specific reasons:

To promote sim stability during combat,

To promote fleet and infantry combat in all terrain, and

To promote the enjoyment of realism and skill in air combat.

3. The specifics of the Militant Collective Aircraft Specifications (MCAS) are listed below.

Note, these specifics may be relaxed at our discretion to groups who make honest attempts to correct their vehicles to these guidelines. (I.E., allowance of slighty higher top speeds, provided the aircraft surpass no other limits.)

Speed:

Forward speed: 130m/s maximum

Up/Down/Left/Right direct strafing speed: 30m/s maximum

Backward speed: 0m/s

Turning:

Unrestricted

Hovering:

Unrestricted

Folding Avatars:

Restricted (This implies using an animation to fold you into a smaller shape and hitbox)

Cannons/Guns:

Max 4 Rez slaves, rifle sized bullets. An ammo counter is -strongly- encouraged.

Explosive weapons:

0.5 second/radius reload (10m bomb requires 5 seconds)

Max explosive size of 15m radius.

Guided weapons:

Must be physical, have < 30 second flight time, and cannot target infantry.

(Non sitting/in air Avatars)

4. The Militant Collective will enforce this policy once proper notice is displayed in our telehub. Once this is displayed, groups who deploy physical flying vehicles in violation will have their vehicle returned. Repeated attempts to violate our rules will result in removal from the sim.

Groups who fail to develop a vehicle within the guidelines in this document for reasons of lacking technical skills or experience, will be offered limited assistance. Groups who fail to develop a vehicle within the guidelines out of animosity towards the concept of reducing firepower will be removed from our sim. Groups who already do, or design a suitable aircraft will be allowed to use their vehicles without restrictions.

In preventing a double standard, the Militant Collective will not deploy aircraft in our sim or foreign sim in violation of these rules. If MC personnel are found doing so, they are failing to properly represent the spirit of this document and will be dealt with.

If groups cannot agree to an aircraft solution, the Militant Collective offers to forgo the use of aircraft in our sim and theirs to promote cooperative combat.

If you have specific questions, concerns, or suggestions about this document, IM Raideur Ng.

If you have specific gripes, insults, piss, and or vinegar about this document, IM hell.
