Funny and interesting! Enjoy.

Fooks is reporting on behalf of the Journal.

[2008/12/11 22:26] Aryte Vesperia: Ok! Sorry, what can I do for you?

[2008/12/11 22:26] Aryte Vesperia: Long day, hah.

[2008/12/11 22:26] Fooks Bueller o

[2008/12/11 22:26] Fooks Bueller: =o

[2008/12/11 22:27] Fooks Bueller: Well

[2008/12/11 22:27] Fooks Bueller: I've chatted with a lot of folks now

[2008/12/11 22:27] Fooks Bueller: and wanted your input

[2008/12/11 22:27] Fooks Bueller: I'm writing on Military Diplomacy. I was wondering, what do you feel is a good tactic to use when dealing with other militaries, and if you have any silly or funny stories regarding military diplomacy or negotiation. And yes, our notecard is totally going in it

[2008/12/11 22:27] Fooks Bueller: writing an article on*

[2008/12/11 22:35] Aryte Vesperia: Ha ha, yes . . I do have a funn story, actually.

[2008/12/11 22:36] Fooks Bueller: Ooh goodie

[2008/12/11 22:36] Aryte Vesperia: In 2006, when I had just entered the scene as a "diplomat" for the AN2. My first interaction was with Jim Herbst.

[2008/12/11 22:36] Aryte Vesperia: He and I were talking while AN2 goons ran about training, with Fladara and Shadow overseeing them.

[2008/12/11 22:36] Aryte Vesperia: Jim looked to me and said "I bet you 10L Shadow will freak out just because I am here."

[2008/12/11 22:37] Aryte Vesperia: To which I replied "you're on."

[2008/12/11 22:37] Aryte Vesperia: Shadow, for those of you who don't know . . is notorious for his rage and, well, ridiculous antics.

[2008/12/11 22:37] Fooks Bueller: Yeah

[2008/12/11 22:39] Aryte Vesperia: Well, my first assignment as diplomat resulted in . .

[2008/12/11 22:40] Fooks Bueller: lol\

[2008/12/11 22:40] Aryte Vesperia: Insignificant at the time, but amusing to realize two, nearly three years later we're still at odds.

[2008/12/11 22:41] Fooks Bueller: Heh

[2008/12/11 22:42] Fooks Bueller: In your experience, who was the best military leader you've ever dealt with? Conversely, who is the worst?

[2008/12/11 22:42] Aryte Vesperia: Easily, Anthony Lehane and Lurdan Huszar. They are very good friends of mine at this point. We've always gotten along very well.

[2008/12/11 22:43] Aryte Vesperia: The worst? Haha, uh . . well, I'd want to say Harlequin Salome, but he and I really didn't do much interaction. I always had some respect for the guy. So I'd have to go with Bruno. He's just downright rude.

[2008/12/11 22:44] Fooks Bueller: What do you feel is the root of today's diplomatic problems?

[2008/12/11 22:45] Aryte Vesperia: Xenopobia. A lot of stereotyping without foundation.

[2008/12/11 22:45] Aryte Vesperia: Xenophobia, rather.

[2008/12/11 22:47] Fooks Bueller: Xenophobia? please explain

[2008/12/11 22:48] Aryte Vesperia: As in, general fear of other groups. The inherent belief that a military is there for more than simply fun combat. It stems back to the times where the AN2 (prior to my instatement) and the AN were literally out to destroy eachother.

[2008/12/11 22:56] Fooks Bueller: (sorry for taking so long) So what is your feelings regarding standardized rules?

[2008/12/11 22:57] Aryte Vesperia: As in, a treaty organization with standardized regulations for all groups?

[2008/12/11 22:57] Fooks Bueller: Yes

[2008/12/11 22:58] Aryte Vesperia: Well. A lot of my sour antics to it comes from living under a monolithic dictation of STABLE. The Iron Symphony is inclined to treat regions individually, with a home-sim rules. If a group has poor regulations for their sim, they won't be assaulted, they'll get bored, and the problem'll solve itself.

[2008/12/11 23:34] *** parent estate: 0

[2008/12/11 23:34] Fooks Bueller: Again, sorry for my slowness, 39th sim drama. griefers.

[2008/12/11 23:35] Aryte Vesperia: Np!

[2008/12/11 23:35] Fooks Bueller: So you feel that home grown rules are a good thing?

[2008/12/11 23:38] Aryte Vesperia: I do. It's an effective check and balance. For example, if the home grown rules in Titan blow . . we'll sit here bored and pick our noses until we change it.

[2008/12/11 23:40] Fooks Bueller: So basically you're all for forcing supply and demand on the rules?

[2008/12/11 23:42] Aryte Vesperia: Something of the sort. The Symphony operates under the idea that . . well, every group is capable of being inherently good, and can develop rulesets that are fair and balanced.

[2008/12/11 23:42] Aryte Vesperia: We don't feel it is necessary to dictate policy

[2008/12/11 23:42] Aryte Vesperia: .

[2008/12/11 23:43] Fooks Bueller: Do you approve of the current state of affairs?

[2008/12/11 23:43] Aryte Vesperia: What specifically, do we speak of? In general?

[2008/12/11 23:43] Fooks Bueller: Yes

[2008/12/11 23:43] Fooks Bueller: Among all the militaries

[2008/12/11 23:44] Aryte Vesperia: No. Not entirely. A lot of progress has been made in the way of the community improving, but it's really still inhospitable for smaller organizations.

[2008/12/11 23:46] Fooks Bueller: How so?

[2008/12/11 23:49] Aryte Vesperia: It is difficult for new organizations to get a foothold. The lure and status of larger groups tends to overshadow and destroy them before they've a chance. It's something we have tried to address.

[2008/12/11 23:50] Fooks Bueller: So you don't really have that much of a problem with the total nonengagement from some militaries?

[2008/12/11 23:52] Aryte Vesperia: Not in the least. We're capable of amusing ourselves with pretty lights and explosives.

[2008/12/11 23:53] Fooks Bueller: Fair enough

[2008/12/11 23:53] Fooks Bueller: Do you have any regrets over how the lat two years have played out in SL?

[2008/12/11 23:54] Aryte Vesperia: Of course. But there's a continuing education in making regrettable decisions.

[2008/12/12 0:01] Fooks Bueller: Alright

[2008/12/12 0:01] Fooks Bueller: well

[2008/12/12 0:01] Fooks Bueller: One last question

[2008/12/12 0:02] Fooks Bueller: I was hoping you could comment on some very serious rumors that have been circulating

[2008/12/12 0:04] Aryte Vesperia: Sure? Which?

[2008/12/12 0:05] Fooks Bueller: Well rumor has it you offered to give up the sim titan in exchange for a doubleshot ice mocha

[2008/12/12 0:05] Aryte Vesperia: That is incorrect. It's a Ventir Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice.

[2008/12/12 0:05] Aryte Vesperia: Venti, rather.

[2008/12/12 0:05] Fooks Bueller: vente* :P

[2008/12/12 0:05] Aryte Vesperia: Whatever!

[2008/12/12 0:06] Fooks Bueller: How shocking

[2008/12/12 0:06] Fooks Bueller: this will certainly make the front page

[2008/12/12 0:07] Fooks Bueller: You sir, should be ashamed

[2008/12/12 0:07] Aryte Vesperia: . . Wait, let me see.

[2008/12/12 0:08] Aryte Vesperia: HAH!

[2008/12/12 0:08] Aryte Vesperia: It is Venti!

[2008/12/12 0:08] Aryte Vesperia: http://www.starbucks.com/retail/nutrition_...tion=GETDEFAULT

[2008/12/12 0:08] Fooks Bueller: Sir I cannot publish such outright lies

[2008/12/12 0:09] Aryte Vesperia: Ahaha~

[2008/12/12 0:12] *** parent estate: 0

[2008/12/12 0:12] Fooks Bueller: Thanks, and goodnight!

[2008/12/12 0:12] Aryte Vesperia: Welcome!
