In all fairness, that FAMAS variant is not an original design to the guys on FPSB. It was made for the movie Battle Royale 2. In this sense it is not a rip-off of the FPSB people.

HOWEVER. If they just ganked that model and threw it on SL and added a few things, then yes it is if they are using that MESH, and is the exact kind of shit I was worried about when MESH came out.

And their armor was originally from Jin-Roh: the Wolf Brigade.

The design itself isn't the issue, it's the mesh. If VG had made their own very similar version, it wouldn't matter, but their taking of a mesh someone else made and uploading it as their own is what's against the TOS.

I just love how people can't invent their own designs, they're always inclined to infringe on others or copy RL. Just continually points out that I'll have to better protect my works, but also means I'll have a pretty secure job in the future. People tend to copy things they like, where I like to invent and design new things and experiment with new ideas.

By signing up for and completing the mesh tutorial process, you basically sign an additional ToS with Linden Labs which means you can't even try to use them as a meatshield if you - unknowingly or knowingly - violate the mesh IP rights, or even the basic ToS itself.

Now, the first time around, Christoph might've made a genuine bad. He might've paid some developer he never met or commissioned before - and has never uploaded anything to SL before and has no commercial presence whatsoever - hundreds or thousands of dollars donated by his devoted and loyal followers to make some new armor - even though in the past Kelkith and others with actual presences in SL have always made their gear with little to no issue - and the developer turned out to be a total fraud and uploaded someone else's work.

Second time around, however, not only does this unknown developer rip off work from multiple people (the sights and attachments are not made by Gutter or Kelkith), Christoph takes it, a-oks it, and packs it up to sell as his own work. He hasn't just stepped into the IP minefield, he's purposely stepping on mines to see how long it takes before one of them explodes.

Please don't partial quote me. I already pointed this fact out in my first post.

Ever hear the phrase "Have to hit the nail more then once to drive it into the board"? No? WELL I JUST MADE IT UP, but it's logical. Some people don't understand until you tell them several times, over and over, several different ways, from several different sources. The only time I've really encountered these kind of people, are those I worked with in.. supportive living homes however..

This particular board is simply extremely dense. :l

EDIT:

Even now Christoph is apparently trying to brush this under the rug as "1000 said he got permission". Considering the development team themselves haven't been able to contact the head for nearly three months, and that the acting head has never been contacted about this, Chris just trying to cover his ass.

Poorly.
