Lyube

Recommended Posts

Lyube is a Russian light rock band that first became popular in the early 1990s or late 80s. Their music is near solely about warfare, but themes such as love, camaraderie and other essentials of Humanity are present. Their songs are incredibly powerful, even if one doesn't understand the lyrics and translations that are provided are often of low quality. The band has become immensely important to me, and their music is absolutely amazing. I know I've been spamming Off Topic lately, but this is entirely worth sharing. If there is a "POST MUSIC HERE" thread, point me to it.

Lyube - Davai Za (One More Time, Brother)

The sky is choked by grey clouds,

Nerves are tense like a guitar string,

Rain knocks since morning and till the evening,

Time has fallen asleep, it seems like eternity.

They come from all directions,

Tanks, infantry, fire of artillery.

We are killed, but we survive...

And we throw ourselves into an assault again.

To life, let us fight to the end, brother.

To those who were with us that time.

To life, damned be the war!

To the memory of those who were with us.

The sky above is filled with lead clouds.

A low fog creeps forward.

I would like to trust that it is all over.

If only my wounded comrade has survived.

Suffer, brother! Don't die yet!

You will still live long and happy,

We will dance at your wedding!

You will hold your children again.

To life, hold on till the end, brother!

For those who are waiting for you at home.

To life, hold on till the end, brother!

To those who are waiting for you at home.

Let's do it for them, let's do it for us,

Both for Siberia and for the Caucasus.

For the light of far away cities,

Both for friends and for loved ones.

Let's do it for you, let's do it for us!

Both for Airborne and Special Forces!

For medals of valor,

Let's drink for that, my old friend.

In an old album I found photos

Of my grandfather, he was a commander in the Red Army.

"To my Son for my Memory. Berlin, 1945."

Memories of the last century.

Smell of a grass, that wasn't oblique at the dawn,

The ground groans from the bombardment.

Pair of soldier's boots trampled

By new Wars, by old wars.

To life,

To those,

To life,

To memory of those who were with us once.

Unfortunately, I can't find the English lyrics for this one.
