PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER (PVP) To talk on the PvP channel type /2To 'Flag' yourself for PvP use the small icon under your character portrait (your icon will be either empire or republic)If you are flagged a red circle will be highlighted on your iconBeing flagged means anyone on the opposite faction can attack you. If you are on a PvP server this icon is always on above level 10 (need confirmation)To participate in a PvP battleground all you have to do is click the small icon in the bottom right corner of the minimap. The icon should be of your faction, republic or empire.You can also select the MVP (most valuable player) in your team once the match has finished. The MVP will receive extra rewards.Getting killed in our outside a battleground by an enemy player has no real penalty. You don't lose any credits and you don't lose your gear. You only lose a little pride :P.Take your time to look at the map and understand the objectives on the loading screen. It will take a few runs before you start getting the hang of things.As always, go for the healer first!You can buy several types of PvP gear from various vendors. This is for the other old fogies out there to wax nostalgic, and for new blood to learn what things were like in the old days. Post things you remember that were different back when, or ask questions. Remember when: -Lone wolfers had unlimited attack time -Defense reports were required for lone-wolfers even if they only ran at the line once, died, and didn't come back -The Alpha squads were A-I, B-I, and C-I, and the regular squads were A-II, B-II, and C-II -Zerging was allowed anywhere so we used to roll in on a base of ten people with like twenty -Only Aryte led raids -Promotions were announced at weekly meetings instead of the day after -You got an unlock after every promotion because QP didn't exist -Praetorians did not ask to be Praetorians, they were asked (in other words, Aryte selected them personally -Promotions were recommendation-based, as the exams did not yet exist -Schola was only four phases -The HUD had a grappling hook in it -Defense reports had to be hand-written because Mercury didn't auto-generate them -The standard-issue rifle held 100 rounds and had explosive munitions that could be activated remotely in an emergency (the standard SMG just had flashbang rounds) -The old adjudicator -Frumentarii -The Iron Symphony -That period where we were allied with AN -People still gave a shit about Vanguard
