  1. All that serves to do is slow down people who might have the skill that their next rank requires, but they aren't one for paperwork.

If someone doesn't wish to do paperwork, then they may not want to seek a higher rank. The higher you go up in the chain, the more responsibility you have. Unfortunately, that also requires bureaucracy and therefore paperwork. Skill is great, but part of the responsibility of people who have rank is making sure the paperwork is done as it is part of the position of authority. If doing an exam which features information that is useful for someone in a leadership position is too much hardship for them, then perhaps they should be slowed down in their advancement since the work load that will be expected of them would overwhelm them as they advance?

  2. Do we really need elevators in the build zone? I thought we were concerned about objects having scripts in the sim and also the number of prims available for the new sim build. This uses both of those resources. We already have plenty of means to get up to the top via jet pack and grappling hook, and there's also the teleporter at the base of the room to go to other areas.

  3. Yes, as always congratulations to everyone listed and even those not listed. Every week we grow as a group, and our efforts move this group forward. Keep it up everyone! Remember to focus your praise on others rather than your individual achievements! The more we do that, the more everyone gets recognized!

  4. You guys are making this way too complicated. A simple HUD that checks to see whether you're in a valid allied group, and if not sets you to hostile, with a local chat channel listener for whatever capture points or generator that communicates with that HUD is all you really need. We could get this added to our existing hud, along with something available in the IS spawn area, and another one in the teleport hub for visitors to wear if they wish to participate in the objectives.

Hell something that simple is easy to expand on with the database integration that I mentioned earlier, and the simple use of it now would be a base system to further implement and add features to when considering Chronus and the future Titan build.

  5. Well I sent this to Tsume and I didn't get a response to my IM so I'll post it here.

Regius Inquisition has a capture point system in their sim that allows attackers and defenders to teleport to captured points. This is done via a HUD that they give in their hub. When you wear the hud, it detects whether you are in one of the allied groups. If you aren't, it sets you as an opposing force.

Each capture point is affected by the hub based on proximity. After a certain number of seconds, the capture point will go neutral and then get captured to whichever side is closest to it. After the point is captured, allies can teleport to it and you can move along to other points.

The reason I mention this, is that a similar system can be adapted for our use. Using a simple, basic HUD, all of the features you are requesting are possible. Based on proximity they can have the HUD on to deactivate the generators. Using the HUD, you could limit the amount of minerals they are able to hold, and use it to interact with whatever is needed to have the capture objective.

This would also potentially allow you to expand it to have it interact with a database, and therefore also interact with Mercury (for warning announcements), or systems on another simulator.

  6. Gloves are provided with the suit. Aryte accidentally forgot them in the released and officer preview copies. Grab a new copy from the locker and it should have the gloves. If it doesn't, ring up Santa Bosswolf so he can remember to put them in it and distribute them.

Nothing third-party is permitted right now aside from headgear.

  7. WolfShaman. As I told him personally, during the 2142 raid on Friday he took the reigns from Ron Bleac and kept the force going even when the numbers dipped low and 5 to 1 odds were not in our favor. Throughout, he constantly provided teleports to personnel which kept the line staffed and pushing hard against the 2142 defense line. He also did so without seeking any praise or spouting about his accolades; he simply did his job without comment.

Astra in general as well. Despite losing more staff recently, you continue to push forward and try to stay optimistic. Don't lose faith, and we all will do our best to make sure the skies are a welcome place for combat again.

  8. Just in case you didn't notice, because I used such an excellent disguise to appear Incognito as Norm BeachInFrance, that's me in the second picture in the background :)

Was fun, can't wait to see the final product!

  9. I had an opportunity to read through this a couple weeks ago and it really is a good representation of what this group is capable of providing to the Ordo Imperialis. I also believe that after you have read this you will lose a lot of misconceptions about what it actually does. It's not complete, but it has really changed how I go about my role as Lictor daily and how I interact with personnel throughout the organization.

  10. This is really going to depend on what you find the most fun. There are a lot of amazing things to see in the USA, and for the most part we enjoy tourists a lot. You're going to encounter a lot of real jerks anywhere, no matter what, but depending on where you visit Americans can be pretty polite. I'm personally from Florida, and the area that I lived featured a lot of polite people. I still find it weird living up near Washington, DC and I don't see men holding doors open for ladies, people using their please and thank you's, and also the sir and ma'ams. Oh well.

If you like theme parks, there are two huge areas in my opinion. California has a huge theme park area on the West coast of the US. You'll see Disneyland, Six Flags, Legoland, the San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios Hollywood, Seaworld, and other things. Plus you can check out Hollywood, go to the many beaches along the coast, and I'm sure there's plenty of other stuff. Las Vegas, Nevada isn't too far away if I remember right.

You could also go to Orlando, Florida if you're big into theme parks. I'd actually suggest that place the most, mainly because the parks are in such close proximity to each other that you can probably work out some multi-park deal if you were interested. The selection there is pretty close to California's. The main difference is that you'll be going to Florida, which is extremely hot and humid in the summer. If you get a ride, you can also check out the beaches which are about an hour away from Orlando if I remember right. I was never much of a park or beach person, so I can't quite remember.

If you're into historical aspects, there's a lot of areas around for that. I think pretty much every American should visit Washington, DC at some point and check out the monuments and especially the museums. There are some really great museums all across the area that are a lot of fun to check out. The summer usually has a lot of festivities as well. Of course, that's just one area. There are a ton of national parks scattered across the US if you're into hiking or checking out things like that. The Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls, the Great Lakes. New York is a big area too if you're into cities, plus the Statue of Liberty is a huge national icon that you could check out.

There's tons of things to do here, and it's not strictly restricted to each of the states I mentioned. There are 50 states across North America, all have their own national parks and tourist attractions. I'm sure other people will have some good recommendations for you as well. I hope this was helpful as a start, at least.

    5. A brief statement as to why you feel that you would fulfill this role the best.

This position will require someone who will hit the ground running. They must have the knowledge and experience to bring an organization together and distribute the work load to minimize failure and burn out. They must understand the importance of maintaining the records and paperwork involved with a position like this. I have experience in the past with previous militaries handling these types of situations, and I believe I was successful. My training in the Ordo Imperialis and my work as a Curia Lictor has prepared me to take on this additional role, and I feel I am ready to take on this additional responsibility.

    6. Explain the steps you would take in the event of a civilian disrespecting Ordo personnel. If applicable, detail who you would notify, who you would speak to, and how the situation would be dealt with.

I believe Overseers may be assigned following the assignment of the director, so I would definitely use them to perform this portion of the investigation. The first step is to get the testimony from the civilian and the Ordo personnel. Following that any witnesses available will be contacted to get additional testimony. If the Ordo Personnel is partly responsible, their participation will be reported to their direct CO or XO. If the civilian is guilty, based on the evidence a decision will be made. The Imperator is of course may overrule the decision on the matter before it is executed. Finally, a report will be drawn up including the investigation material and the decision made which will be submitted to the Imperator and any other parties that may need to be involved or notified including AiR and Curia.

  13. This topic came up for me a few days ago, and as a Lictor I was confused about my role and hearing that people were cautious around members of Curia when it comes to their behavior on base. The power to directly enforce policy has always been in the hands of officers, and in a limited capacity, NCOs. Perhaps they were unaware of this, I'm not sure. I think this document is extremely helpful in clarifying that the role of Curia isn't as direct enforcement.

While in the Alliance Navy the concept of the chain of command is drilled into us, but unfortunately still rarely followed. This chain is the path that communication, orders, and punishment will come from for every member of the group. It is important to understand one's position as a link in the chain and how we are connected to the other members of the group. Moving outside the chain undermined authority, and broke down the hierarchy which was created to bring order to the group and keep the military running smoothly and consistently. I am wondering if the topic of authority in Schola training could be explained a bit differently to avoid the misconceptions which lead to the creation of this document. The handbook stands in harmony with this document. Perhaps this should be included as supplementary material while cadets are going through Schola?

I really hope that this helps put things into perspective in regards to the role of Curia in the group, as there seems to be misconceptions about what the branch can or can't do for each individual member of Ordo. A real emphasis should be on the branch's ability to resolve conflicts. Just as a reminder from the handbook:

[The Officium Curia]: This organization houses the problem solvers of the Ordo -- their interests are to resolve conflicts diplomatically, and, if necessary, administer punishment in the events of injustice. In addition, Curia officials are responsible for over viewing all matters of policy and induction of applicants that require stringent review.
  14. I've been wanting to ask this since I have seen that a lot of weapons have been around a while and there is often murmurs about updating or revamping equipment for a specific alpha squad or some other reason. I noticed that something similar was mentioned in the meeting so I have a little suggestion.

Is there any type of logging for the mercury auth? I'm asking this mainly because if it is possible to log usage of a particular gun whenever the authentication occurs, this could be used to track statistics to see what weapons are being used the most and see which gear needs to be phased out for newer styles of weaponry, or also see which gear gets the most use and should get updated with better quality models, scripts, animations and textures if needed. I think this would assist a lot in making decisions regarding that.

  15. Well written. I've made some fortifications on two towers on our side, which actually stop rounds. Feel free to use them, now.

These fortifications have been changed to be rezzers so make sure to rez them for a combat situation and derez them when finished.

Also, please consider this a bump since it was mentioned in the meeting today.
