We clap our hands when we are standing so that other guards don't think we are looking at something wrong (standing = might be going on a rescue).I love that the beach you work at issues "winter attire" consisting of sweats and such which you were wearing in 75 degree weather and would have to remove in order to swim to rescue someone.Its not actually cold. Its just that the sustained winds are at a 15-25 mph all day long. Also, sit in one place for 8 hours and see if you don't get tired of the wind.
