Aryte
In order to really give everyone a better idea as to how I envision each rank in Terra, I've developed the following little clip. The whole point of the Ordo rank tree is to micromanage and to create a system that spreads out work evenly-- sparing any one individual from being overburdened. The Legates (O-3) is responsible for the entirety of the division they oversee. It is their duty to ensure all elements of Terra are operating at optimal function. The Legates position is a very loose one, in otherwords they have full power to deem their own place within their respective branch. As a Terra Legates, it is expected that their primary function is inspection of quality of the division's operation, along with managing the Centurion (O-2) council. He reserves the capability to overrule any and all policies developed within Terra and reports directly to the Imperator. The Centurion (O-2) body makes up the basic command element within Terra. Collectively, the Terra Centurions are what is considered the Terra council: the governing body, with capability to create internal policy for Terra. Centurion are expected to primarily be concerned with the development of said policy, while overlooking the Terra division at large. They, with the Legates (O-3), must maintain the OVERALL shape and element of Terra. The Optio (O-1) role is much more defined. Although an officer, with say in policy creation and control, the Optio's primary concern is his or her elite squad. Each Optio will be attached to either an elite squad, or the Legates' personal staff. As a staff Optio, they are primarily concerned with the at-large function of overseeing . . such as running academies, overseeing combat exercises. Essentially an extention of the Centurion council. As a line Optio, with command of an elite squad, you are outright responsible for your squad. It is your authority to develop training, recruitment, attack schemes-- everything related to your squad. Furthermore, each individual line Optio reports to a Centurion, whom acts as their voice on the policy/Centurion counil. A Centurion does not have direct say over any one elite squad, however they may influence it via-policy decisions, and by cooperation with the Optio in command. Rei Kuhr
Really would help to have something like this for Astra. I already have somewhat a rough idea for the various roles in Astra, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it first, Aryte.
