Any guitar players?

Hey

My cousin wants to buy an accoustic guitar for her boyfriend for his birthday and she's not sure what to get him.

He's mostly into Jack Johnson sort of music so something that plays/sounds like whatever guitars Jack Johnson uses would be ideal.

She only has around £100 or $200 to spend though so the likelyhood is she'll have to get a cheaper brand that sounds similar.

Anyone know what guitars he uses or have any suggestions on what she should get?

I think he uses a Maton acoustic. Most likely 6 string.

Maton, but I don't think you can really find one for that kind of budget, especially as they're made in Austrailia. The cheapest Maton I could find (the 225 series) is 800 euros.

If they haven't played guitar at all, however, you can likely find either a decent starter guitar, or even better, a used, higher quality guitar from someone.

Both me and my older brother are more into electric guitars, though, so I'm not as much an expert on acoustics.

For someone that's not a hardcore connoisseur of acoustics, any old metal-string dreadnought-body acoustic will do, especially for a starter.

I like my Ovation. Ovation also has a lower cost model series (Applause) for people on a budget. I have an Applause and it sounds great.

If she manages to get some extra money, Taylor is always a good bet for acoustics.
