If, for say, Manuel the Praetorian was on base, and Bob the Optio happened to be the ranking officer . . Manuel would be expected to listen to Bob the Optio for defensive purposes, as a courtesy and for cohesion.

Questions? Feel free to put them here.

I'm still picking up some hints of confusion as to the authority of the Praetorian Guard. So, let's go over it. In short, if a standard officer is present on headquarters-- unless I myself state otherwise, and your name isn't Kytec Switchblade (see IV-414 in main Ordo handbook), that officer has command authority. That includes warrant officers. Part of the Praetorian Codex is a long list of regulations specific to them, the following two relate to command authority. These are part of their specific handbook, which is generally classified in nature. IX-910: Praetorian personnel are not authorized to accept orders outside of internal authority. The Imperator is the single individual whom may issue commands to the Guard, unless otherwise dictated by orders. IX-911: The Praetorian Guard is considered unranked, but potentially all powerful. All authority is derived from written regulations, verbal regulations, and orders passed down from the Imperator. Anything that is given to the Praetorian Guard as authority carries with it the absolute authority of the Imperator. IX-912: The Praetorian Guard may not exercise authority outside of the above clause, except under the circumstances of initiating emergency powers. Emergency powers allow for a Guardsmen to usurp command of a failing or rebellious officer, effectively assuming their authority. The Guard is provided this capability for the most dire of circumstances. a. Emergency powers do not include natural succession when officers are absent. a1. For example, if no officer is available and the Guard assumes command. b. To put it into perspective, emergency powers have never been exercised. The main Ordo handbook states the following in relation to command authority: V-413: The highest ranking officer present assumes command during defensive postures, regardless of branch of affiliation (see tier of secession). All authority should be derived directly through the officer in charge (OIC)

[2008/05/06 17:34] Mark Karlfeldt: (Saved Tue May 06 18:14:07 2008) Here's how I see it. Black Ops is like the jack of all trades, decent at combat and anti-griefing but not great at either. Titan is superb for combat. I'm gonna use Titan's stuff at Badnarik now, since Poon's scripts lag so bad.

I was considering an EOTech. I imagine one is in my future, but for the moment I'm still getting used to the current load.

CARA4 with an ACOG and forward grip. Changing the buttstock and changing to a quad railing for the sake of buying completely pointless, though tacticool greendots and light. You can blame Cyphre for that.

UNwritten rules/Rules needing clarification
Aryte replied to Jester Spearmann's topic in General Discussion
Unwritten regulations are not exactly unwritten-- they're discretion calls made by individuals permitted to make them. Unfortunately some communication is lax, therefore general discretion is determined largely by the individual officer. It's a flaw that is difficult to get around. Personally, such matters make anything of this sort largely unpunishable unless enforced routinely and efficiently. Let me clarify a few standards for everyone! First, the door problem-- that is not exactly a hard ordinance. Simply we prefer that only officers play with it, so as to limit confusion on when it needs to be open and closed. Secondly, the main Ordo group should only be enforced if within combat conditions. Otherwise, any Ordo related group tag is fine. Third, boots and hats are largely two pieces we don't gripe much about-- unless they are grossly out of theme, or in the event of it being Ordo issued (covered in statue). For example, if you were wearing Terra gear in Astra and vice versa. Fourth, cadets are considered exempt from standards of leniancy, most of the time. They are learning the part and must be treated with a more strict reserve. I hope this helps! -
From Lurdan: [13:04] Harlequin Salome: Hey Lurdan. Think I could hit the praeda from here? [13:04] Harlequin Salome: Not sure, but I'm thinking I might have a chance. [13:04] You: If you could, I'd laugh just as hard as I did when this purple furry shot you. [13:04] You: Which was pretty damn hard.

Jiranto Akina was removed from MC for causing the resignation of several Collective members. Jiranto then wiped a large portion of the Collective headquarters and promptly joined Pan-Slavya Coalition. We'll update as we get a handle on it.

This thread is intended for public recognition of your peers! If you've noticed someone doing something right . . let them know. It also is quite handy in cases of helping officers determine possible merit opportunities and the likes. I'll start it for you all. I'd like to take a moment to say kudos to a lot of our newer folks. We've been blessed by one heck of a great generation of fresh faces and it is /great/ to have you around. People like . . Shadowfang, Taru, Sosarin, Sera, Lestat, Failius, Revenant, Lilium, and more. You guys are really energetic, willing to put your efforts forth and are contributing a lot to our overall quality! I very much appreciate it. Sometimes it is hard for the "new" guys to get acquainted, but you're not having any problems. :)
