Computer Builds: Specs, Consoles & Suggestions
Scarlet Flaks replied to Timmahy Widget's topic in Tech
Just because it's an 8-core processor doesn't mean it's good; The FX (bulldozer) chipsets were recently released and are expensive, but under-powered, 8 cores means nothing in contrast to clock speeds and a slow GHz. You could buy an i7-2700k and have way better performance. That said, I bought this PSU about a month ago, it's fairly cheap for the output, and it's graded at 85% efficiency, which isn't too bad. It's also really quiet and runs cool, and it's modular. Secondly, Measure the room inside your case before trying to pick out a GPU. Your motherboard is a microATX form motherboard, meaning you probably only have 1x PCIx16 port and not a whole ton of room. To be fair, Eriksson's idea of completely updating and buying a new PC isn't a bad one considering the size and age of your motherboard (4gb RAM, dual-core only), aside from the part that most of those prices are higher than they should be. Black-Friday/Cyber-Monday are soon, hold off on buying any parts until then unless you're absolutely sure you've found a deal worth getting. As far as specific GPU's go, if you're not afraid of nVidia, anything GTX460~560TI should be moderate in price and excellent in performance. You can pick up a 560TI for under $200 if you shop around. On that note you can probably also find a decent HD6950 for around the same price if not a bit more. Just read a ton of reviews first as some manufactures don't honor their warrantys, rebates, or just simply build bad products that overheat. Also, try using this, it's nifty. http://pcpartpicker.com/ -

wear old retired gear from years ago.

My character is female, it's a lot less bulky and looks cooler. The one in the video above is male. And yes, Winter 2011. It should be released in-full before the end of the year. One thing to brace for is the amount of bunny-hopping and semi-automatic rifles that do one-hit kills. Outside of that it's exactly like B:TD, which is still one of my most favorite FPS's, ever-ever-ever.

also, thatguy, I'm running on the lowest settings and getting 20fps on onboard video from my motherboard. here's a tech-demo, at max settings. The glow and color and specular is much prettier. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u81d44NmH4

MMOFPS as in item store and 8/16/31 player matches. But, it's very very different. Extremely well made. The level and depth of how much you can customize is Ffffing incredible, likewise the game engine is optimized to a point that even on my onboard video without a videocard installed, I can run it at about 20fps on the lowest settings, and visually it still looks incredible.
