Markius Fox
Seriously, wait for ArmA III to come out, Ragdoll physics, volumetric clouds, underwater environments, disguises, weapons customization. The improvements are astoundingly nice.
George Reisman
No shit. But ArmA 2 is worth the investment.

Rei Kuhr
I'll be playing ArmA 2 right up to the day ArmA 3 comes out. And considering it's not out until early next year, there's still quite some time to enjoy it.

Scarlet Flaks
You will hate yourself in a few days when it's 75% off on the steam summer sale.
Johann
You will hate yourself in a few days when it's 75% off on the steam summer sale. 75% off of $30? Yeah, probably. But at least I can play it now instead of wheneverthehelltheydotheirsaleswhichcomeoutofnowhere.
Krow Ames
They should forecast their sales. Like release a sales thing for the month to show what's going to be on sale.
Cyphre Iredell
Then they would lose potential sales and monies. Also, they were kind of stingy with Arma 2 sales last time. The original was always on sale, but not OA or the other expansions.
Krow Ames
How would they lose money? I think they would make more because people know what's coming, instead of spending that money on other things.
Cyphre Iredell
Because they would make more if people purchased X game at full price. If someone were to buy a game regardless of a sale, they would make more off the time the sale was on. There is a pretty good reason nobody advertises an upcoming sale... Reinhardt
I'll be honest... stores up here in Toronto, always advertise when a sale is ABOUT to occur. It draws in extra business which offsets the losses they take from the sale itself. That said, something like steam would function differently. Advertising a sale in advance or not would not draw in or lose customers; they are already there. The only real reason they might consider advertising sales in advance is to increase customer satisfaction, which is a good reason, but they would be left with no real way to offset the losses from the sale itself. Cyphre Iredell
Storefronts do so because people are already keenly aware of a sale occurring, as they do so regularly. All the run of the mill department stores have the same sales every year, so advertising for them is simply advertising exposure in general. You can't really compare them because the purpose of sales in storefronts are to gain more business, where people would otherwise not even bother going to that store in the first place, or make significant purchases (which is why most regular sales are within boundaries of a set quantity or dollar amount before benefit is gained). That doesn't work online because it's not a casual perusal of wares. Advertising an online sale beforehand merely tells people to bookmark a page and look at it some day later to make their purchase. Spring a sale at the last minute, and what you're catching are the people who had previously held back on a purchase (because they were simply unsure at the time) and are being enticed to spend on what they were already after, or possibly more. The people who were already after a certain item have already purchased it at full price and the business made full profit.
