Lone Marksman Posted May 12, 2009 Share Posted May 12, 2009 "Vae Victus" is a forthcoming Ordo fan-fiction following the perspective of Invictus Squad, detailing the team's perilous sojourn through a complex and intriguing story where not everything is as it seems, where the line that distinguishes friend from foe becomes blurred, and where the crosshairs can fall upon anyone at the drop of a pen. A bit vague...? Yes, I wouldn't want to go about spoiling anything, ha-ha. My intention is to begin releasing the story through periodic (weekly) installments one chapter at a time. Keep keyed in and look for historical references and hidden clues to the plotline worked surreptitiously into names and dialogue. There are a number of allusions to ancient Rome scattered throughout the entire story (particularly in the names). Impressive height & build, slicked back black hair, hawkish faceDescription:The quintessential, level headed commander who's been there & done that a hundred times more than you ever have and with the scars to prove it, stands tall and with a fierce, wreckoning countenance, constantly decked out in his full array of battle armor save when circumstance demands otherwise. He's a man in his prime, forged to kill by innumerable and interminable battle experiences, his mind chiseled by time and tide into an ultimate processor of strategies and techniques. To his subordinates, his authority is unquestionable, his preferance for oddball and unpredictable, mercurial tactics considered ingenius, and his orders the be-end all.Name: Lucious "The Madman" Longinus-Status: Invictus, Second-In-Command, [XO]-Rank: [ E-7 ] Duplicarius-Weapon(s): Modified Ultionis, P-99 sidearm, Gladius Wristblade-Distinguishing Features: a.) Average height with a lean disposition, long, dark brown hair and pale skinDescription:The squad's second in charge and their reliable, sturdy fallback when things in the field go all to blazing hell and when contact with the commander is forfeit, he's a by-the-book type of leader... so long as the book satisfies his immediate interests, who won't flinch to indulge a few renegade stunts in order to secure the safety of his squad and the eventual completion of their mission. These recalcitrant tendencies have worked him up a wild reputation to the other Invictus members, 'the Madman', for his extreme ways, but his conviction and his devout follow-through in every mission has earned him the respect all around.Name: Tiberius "Jester" Thrax-Status: Invictus, Close-Quarters-Combat Specialist-Rank: [ E-5 ] Vexillarius-Weapon(s): M4 Benelli, Ultionis x2, P-99 x2 sidearms, Powersword x2-Distinguishing Features: a.) His face is a riddled patchwork and puzzle of scars and twisted flesh from an accident long ago which no one is privy to, and he constantly conceals it with a black head-sock which parts to give way to two silver, cybernetic eyes. Female, curly and long, dark red hair, scorched and jaded down armor setDescription:When it comes to making things (and people) go ka-boom, she's the notorious one-stop shop for all explosive mayhem, a fact which would have her on the receiving end of plenty of snide, sexual jokes if her squadmates weren't too afraid to test their wit around her and hold out for the consequences. Her expertise with demolitions, like her upright personality, is both dazzling and exquisite, making it look easy - like a day at the office - to lay waste to an entire batallion of soldiers.Name: Titus "Mr. Big" Varro-Status: Invictus, Heavy Weapons Specialist-Rank: [ E-5 ] Tesserarius-Weapon(s): M134 Minigun, P-99 sidearm-Distinguishing Features: a.) Behemoth of a man, tall and powerfully built with his hair shaven into a mohawkDescription:The requisite heavy weapons expert with his ever faithful minigun companion, he's a reservoir of ammunition and a true proponent of laying down an inordinate slew of fire and letting luck take its course in determining the enemy death toll. His quick temper and short fuse consistently lead him into all types of trouble, but the big guy has shown no signs of changing and continues to let his temper lead the way, often to the chagrin of his squadmates. He's ditched his forearm armor and chooses to wear his sleeves rolled up to showcase his ensemble of tattoos.Name: Roth Constantine-Status: Invictus, Long-Range Specialist-Rank: [ E-5 ] Vexillarius-Weapon(s): G3SG1 Sniper Rifle, P-99 sidearm, throwing knives, combat knife-Distinguishing Features: a.) Athletic Build, average height, short hair with a silver stripe through it b.) Left handed, rarely wears helmet, inspires discomfort even in InvictusDescription:Known for his trademark stoicism, he's a man of few words who prefers to let his rifle do all the talking for him. His characteristic cool and clinical outlook on death have given him an 'odd-one-out' disposition inside Invictus, and his comrades question whether the man has any conscience at all behind his stern voice, piercing eyes, and calculating demeanor. He wears knives tied nearly all over.Name: William Corvin-Status: Invictus, Medical Specialist-Rank: [ E-4 ] Tessearius-Weapon(s): XAR-9 Assault Rifle, P-99 Sidearm -Distinguishing Features: a.) He's recognized for always carrying a Bible into battle.Name: Maximus "Wrench" Galeo-Status: Invictus, Engineering Specialist-Rank: [ E-4 ] Tessearius-Weapon(s): M4 Benelli, P-99 Sidearm, Tool Kit-Distinguishing Features: a.) Long, shaggy black hair, and a tan, crinkled complexionDescription:The fix-it-all lugnut with a penchant for repairing all things to perfection, he's responsible for handy-man work and sabotage and is versed in comandeering foreign vehicles, upgrading weapons, and keeping the radio uplink in working order. Previously a mechanic in civilian life, he hasn't fully crossed over to the 'killing-mentality' and shows some compunction in pulling the trigger, but has proved his mettle time over and demonstrated that he's more than able to hold his own when the going gets tough. He's regarded as the most grounded of all Invictus.Name: Cilo "Twitch" Merenda -Status: Invictus, Computer Specialist-Rank: [ E-4 ] Tessearius-Weapon(s): Ultionis, P-99 Sidearm, trusty tin coffee-cup-Distinguishing Features: a.) Short, spiked hair, pale skin and drooping eye bags, and a coffee obsessionDescription:Jittery, off-the-wall and a real cynic who thinks he's got the best brains of the bunch and isn't shy to run his mouth about it, he's an infamous computer hacker that was notorious for bringing down a federal computer grid at the age of twelve, and through chance circumstance somehow wound up an Ordo conscript. His specialty is cracking codes and splicing computer terminals, making him a great asset... even if his combat skill sometimes falls behind that of his comrades'.Name: Colt "Newbie" Priscus-Status: Invictus, New Recruit-Rank: [ E-3 ] Sesquiplicarius-Weapon(s): XAR-9 Assault Rifle, P-99 Sidearm-Distinguishing Features: a.) The youngest member, with short, brunette hair and green eyesDescription:The freshest face inside of Invictus, still adapting and getting acclimatized to the workings and modus operandi of the squad and its function(s). He's teased by his squadmates and commonly called the "Newbie" for the fact, but his skills are by no means lack luster, even if his low social acumen inside the squad and his inquisitve "ask-if-you-don't-know" nature can at times grate on the others' nerves.
