Some gays servingl openly in US Military - 60 minutes Segment

Recommended Posts

Well to be honest, I've seen the reason why homosexuals are not allowed to serve in the US military. I watched one person make an extremely subtle hint about his preference. 30 seconds later, it took 7 drill sergeants to haul about half my platoon off the guy and rush him to the hospital. The military recognizes that if you have a bunch of men with weapons out in the middle of nowhere where they cant be closely watched, that if a few of them are homophobic, you're going to end up with rampant assault and murder.

In the case where someone lets slip the fact that they're homosexual, the military does yank them out, but they also keep the guy protected from all the straight homophobes who now want to kill him.

So it's not really discrimination. It's just that in this age, those two groups just dont get along.

Also you have to remember that according to the UCMJ (article 125) sodomy is a crime. So being gay is not against military rules, it is gay acts. You can be gay in the military, you just can't act upon your urges.

EDIT: Also check this out at the bottom of the page which explains everything. If you think Article 125 was written to just discriminate against gays then remember it also forbids oral sex...

Yea, I remember reading the regulations at one point and being told that "missionary" is the only authorized position. Which is kindof funny considering someone would have to invade your privacy to even know.
