Its a problem with winlogin.exe .. Can you still boot into safe mode ? What was the last thing you installed before it started crapping out ? Do you have a windows cd with sp3 integrated ? (if thats the actual SP you have installed) Try unplugging all non esential usb devices. Theres a slim chance its something with your computers ram, but its probably a failed update.

Back in the day we had to scrutinize screen shots of IRC clients with imaging software to see if someone didn't just fabricate logs.. (which happened a lot) then get logs of at least 3 more people and compare, filtering out all random CTCP crap and weird theme stuff. I feel old now .. go away.

Heat issues like Steff said or bad drivers .. I had issues like that with a specific version of the nvidia drivers.

Just get some foam and paint from a hobbystore .. or ask a bakery if they have any fake ones for display purposes.. if its foam people might use it to wipe .. stuff .. out of their fur suits D:

sounds like it is doing a higher resolution / refresh then your monitor can handle .. try booting into safe mode and set your display to 800x600@60hz with 16bit color and reboot normally. If your graphics card is broken it will be broken outside of windows as well, you'll get anything from weird colorful characters on your screen to POST errors and refusal to boot. You can also try getting into your bios to delay the windows starting just to check if it gives you a screen. Probably by hitting 'del' like a maniac after turning the computer on. oh yea, if its XP, and you have a 2nd computer, just type \\computername\c$ on that 2nd one and you should be able to get on its C drive unless you have firewalls and what not running.

Driver issue, you'll get that when another app uses 3d acceleration in full screen mode. Not sure if opengl or direct3d made any difference ...

I can probably give you a script which will feed all the uuid's from staff like that out of mercury.. You could make it a dynamic wall. I just need to add a quick query thing to the webserver. Its already possible to get rank badges from it, the same should be possible for signatures. The challenge will be to make the board add/remove and organize people on its own, i can sort things by group from mercury and send dividers when it changes during the data feed. Not quite sure on how big the list will be, that will probably determine what is possible the most.

I think everyone should be aware that most of the officer staff are long time members and are very accessible to talk about issues you might have, even confidentially. I know a lot of people are scared of talking to authority/ranking officers but I used to nag Aryte as an E-1 over things i didn't agree with or problems I saw. He's not wearing his scary mask anymore(i think) so he should be easier to approach now too >:P But in all seriousness, don't hesitate with going straight to an officer or Aryte himself when you have something on your mind. You won't be marked as whiner or heretic over it... You wont always see a visual change but theres a good chance future decisions will turn out differently.
