  1. Hum To be honest I am fairly surprised your having compatability issues with Steam and SL, since under it all its basically Vista with all the fat cut out... But here's my question, have you attempted to run them in Compatability mode, sometimes that is all you need to push it over the edge, also, are all your drivers up to date, Even in its RC state a lot of big name companies are putting out the drivers for it.

If neither of those work then its hard to say what the problem can be traced down to, Do they crash, or just simply refuse to open at all?

I'm sure my drivers are up to date but I can redo them, I did the vista x64 drivers like supposed too D:

and steam gives an error on windows boot then refuses to open.

    SL just crashes <_<

as for compatibilty mode is there some feature that flips everythign or is it done through each individual program becuase as before; crashes or gives dll errors. But i

ll keep tinkering, tis a slow day.

  2. I've been dicking around on it at work trying it on my gaming laptop and just wondering if anyone has found a steam or sl fix for the x64 bit Ultimate edition D: apparently its hit and miss if it'll work perfectly or just bomb. Theres no support for it until its released (oct 22.) just wondering if anyone else knows how to tinker with it *stares at kytec all awesome like*

  4. Intus, I'm stubborn. If I'm in a group, talking to the same people on a regular basis, I can't leave. . Retirement is truly my only way around that. Because I tried before and came back a week later. .

Now you must flee to Canada o: become one of us~~~~~

  5. Takes me 30 minutes to reformat.

    well yeah

minus backups, quick hdd format, quick xp disc (if you don't have one haha) windows installation (states it takes approx 39 minutes complete but with a half decent speed computer can be cut in 1/2) and drivers. Done. Usually if you ran updates you're chunking on massive times unless you download the files manually and store them for future usage.

  6. okay wow ...just wow lol why is it everyone just reformats when something happens, there is actually a really quick way to do a virus cleanup and it uses all freely available tools @-@ but then again I guess if there wasn't anything important on the computers reformatting is an easy fix, unless you don't have a 2nd computer to grab drivers ;P but most get lucky and it'll find the LAN drivers in the installation disc.

  8. Don't listen to this heresy. Dells are godawful machines, you would be much better off learning to put one together yourself.

Actually zero dell towers alone are junk, laptops produced by them seem to hold up nicely, I got a core2 duo 2.16 nvidia quadro 256mb, 4gb 667mhzddr2, 250gb sata, xp pro setup going on mine and its kicking most asses <: but yeah the towers are junk because of dell's god awful BTX boards meaning; if your tower dies, only dell can fix it!

Back to the topic of building a new machine, i checked out kytec's TD link and honestly that system uses one of the lowest quads x: I think 8200 is lowest? but always, ALWAYS check parts seperatly, they usually put out sales and what not on individual parts meaning if you tried to make a decent quad sys for 700 you could and quite possibly top that link :>

  9. he's canadian and the age is 19 :>

    It's actually 18 over here. But I don't drink, so... :B

    Thanks all. c:

I think thats just because Toronto is all angry people and out west well... there is like nobody and flat land c.c but hey least you're closer to where dog river was :D

  10. i got killing floor, but it borkt, i suspect my videocard of shinanigans. SOOOO im taking a radically unnecessary step in buying a radeon 4870 X2. I'm gonna overclock it and water cool it, so it should outproform my 295 hydrocopper. Luckily i still had time to send the other one back. Ill post more details in off topic.

wait kytec you have a 295? o.o I would assume its buggy atm because like the 260 when it came out most things took up to 6 months to have proper fixes >: But you know most people are gonna dislike the fact your buying an AMD/ATI card D: I usually see that card here on tiger for $180 <.<

I was debating on grabbing it because I had the old and pure evil/only card of its series to be labeled worst ati card in existence and never was able to run sl ATI HD 2600 XT
