  1. The Commissariat is recruiting!

    Inspecting_the_troops.jpg

Do you think you have what it takes to lead men into battle? Enlist today!

Combat is the cornerstone of the Ordo Imperialis presence on Second Life, it is our life blood, without it the group serves little purpose. The Ordo is in need of combat leaders to take command of it's strike forces and project our will abroad. From force-recon teams to full blown crusades, the Ordo has plenty of troops willing to participate but not many leaders, the Commissariat seeks to address this.

The purpose of the Commissariat is to prepare and provide the future leaders of the Ordo Imperialis, with a strong focus on combat leadership. By grounding the initial teaching and guidance firmly within the realms of field leadership, through a combination of mentorship and discussion based seminars, the Commissariat aims to provide well established, experienced and confident leaders to take the Ordo on to greater heights.

The teaching within the Commissariat is, for the most part, split into two key areas. The first, a non-linear set of independent seminars that are either run by the central body of the Commissariat or individual Senior Commissars teaching in a particular area they have an interest/expertise in. These are geared towards creating discussion and understanding on various topics from leadership to the creation of combat units, encouraging the participants to create informed opinions and effective methods of operations, both combat and administrative.

The second area is focused around direct mentoring and observation of a cadet by a qualified, serving member of the Commissariat. The end goal of this is to provide the prospective candidate a direct mentor who can help them develop along their chosen paths, building up both their skills and confidence, until they are ready to step up by themselves and, in turn, pass on their knowledge and experience to the next set of leaders, whilst still driving the boundaries of the Ordo Imperialis forward.

The role of the Commissariat does not end with education. Through various means, it seeks to enable, inspire and reward consistent and excellent performance on and off the battlefield by the Ordo’s commanders.

So, if your interested in leading Ordo Imperialis troops in the field of battle, the Commissariat is for you. If you wish to apply, there are a few requirements:

    - Minimum rank of E-4 (but exceptions can be made based on ability)

    - Must be a member of a Legion's Tier 1 element (exceptions made for officers and guardsmen)

    - Must have displayed some competency at at least the fireteam level and a desire to lead

If you believe you meet these requirements, please fill out the following form and post below:

    Name:

    Rank:

    Legion:

You will be contacted by a senior member of the Commissariat following your application.

For further information regarding the Commissariat please contact either Huttser Ishelwood or Riff Petrov.

  2. There is no set, agreeded upon social profile for a terrorist. The inherent differences between say, a religious fundamentalist who is part of say an AQ cell and a lone-wolf socio -political terrorist make profiling incredibly difficult without creating dozens of them.

You also run into the huge academic problem of how to define a terrorist. With no set definition, the profiles detailing social and public behavior would be incredibly contextual. It may be possible to detect certain types of terrorist through their daily interactions, but that is only case by case.

In short, yes I have looked at it,but I doubt that is the essay question I will choose. Whilst it is one of the questions, I tossed it up there in a rather stereotypical manner as a place holder until I finish my other essays.

  3. Use heavies with bullet storm and HEAT. rounds for sectopods. Snipers can one hit mutons, then use assaults and support to mop up. Should always keep assaults handy to deal with any bezerkers or chrsalids that show up. You give those guys alloy cannons and they can one hit anything at close range, they'll Ffff up most at medium range too.

  4. I found that the hover SHIV was useless but the alloy one equipped with plasma made an ample replacement for when my only ranked heavy was incapped. That and a colonel ranked sniper with a plasma rifle and double tap will kill most aliens in one shot.

  5. Whilst I may disagree with Valaska's academic assessment, which albeit has some valid points. Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda by General Romeo Dallaire and It Doesn't Take a Hero by General Schwarzkopf are brilliant and almost essential reads for anyone who has an interest in military strategy, leadership and the relationship strategy and politics share.

These are two of my favorite books, I highly recommend them.

  6. [17:03:27] Huttser Ishelwood: Alright then, first of all welcome to your new unit, the 33rd Legion Hades. Because I'm obviously the most organized person here I have no notes so I'm doing this off the back of a fag packet.

[17:04:51] Huttser Ishelwood: As I said in the notice, it's a chance to ask questions, get to know the unit and your commanders and so on and so forth.

[17:06:36] Huttser Ishelwood: So, first things first. The Legions were activated in a pretty swift manner and things were over looked. Whilst we have everyone here, is their anyone currently not assigned to either the CGF or CAG? And do those assigned to the CAG have their plane auths?

[17:08:17] Huttser Ishelwood: Alright then. If someone realizes down the line that they have been missed, shoot me an IM, I can sort it real quick.

[17:09:30] Huttser Ishelwood: Secondly, because I've received a few questions about this, PRFs in the 33rd are handled by requesting them on the forum thread located here: http://forums.ordoimperialis.com/index.php?/topic/18514-ordo-sl-prf-requests/

[17:10:39] Huttser Ishelwood: This allows the LCT to maintain an easy to access record and ensure everyone gets the correct number of PRFs a month. If you request during the weekdays, your combat arm overseer, Dresden Xaris for the CGF or Incognitustealthy Resident for the CAG, will get it.

[17:10:58] Huttser Ishelwood: Otherwise, myself or Larry will see to it if it is requested/ not done on the weekend.

    [17:11:12] Huttser Ishelwood: Any questions?

[17:11:23] Huttser Ishelwood: Oh and Havoc for Tier 1!

[17:13:51] Huttser Ishelwood: Be sure to check in with your respective commander, Dresden, Havoc or Incognitus when you get a chance. Each one of them has been developing related materials in regards to each branch, not to mention it always helps to know the person your going to be harassing for PRFs.

[17:15:59] Huttser Ishelwood: On the subject of training, the 33rd is a Mechanized Infantry Unit, which works closely with ground support aircraft, something I'd hope most of you know. It is imperative, especially so for Tier 1 members that armor/gunship and bomber training is sort after and completed ASAP.

[17:16:22] Huttser Ishelwood: Bear in mind that as a Tier 1 member you are eligible to train and utilize both aircraft and armor.

[17:17:31] Huttser Ishelwood: If you have already completed training for both and just need authentications reinstated, there is a thread on the Hades boards for you to request them. This goes equally for current CGF-Tier 1 members who need their plane authorizations to begin basic flight training.

[17:18:01] Huttser Ishelwood: Any questions specifically regarding that? Tier 1 and gear?

[17:18:44] Reinhardt Stenvaag: You mentioned Tier 1 using air and armor, and encouraged htem to persue gunship/bomber training. Now last I knew, Terra could only, at best, fly air superiority (re: Icarus). Now this is to confirm, Tier 1, can now fly everything with training, except fleet ships?

[17:19:02] Huttser Ishelwood: Tier 1, with enough QP can even fly fleet.

[17:19:11] Huttser Ishelwood: If you can unlock it, you can fly it.

[17:19:11] Reinhardt Stenvaag: ... ow my pants just got tight

[17:19:23] Huttser Ishelwood: ... great. Any other questions?

[17:20:00] Reinhardt Stenvaag: I do. I know Tier 1 has activity requirements. What about weeks like this, where Ordo entire only got 2 raids out?

[17:20:22] Genesis Ronmark: I have a general question about getting armor training, do we just post on the forums to start? and where?

[17:20:53] Huttser Ishelwood: Accommodations will be made for general levels of Ordo activity, however if you refer to the Codex, there is also an onus on Tier 1 members to act as raid leaders.

[17:21:50] Huttser Ishelwood: Regarding armored training, contact Havoc, he will be heading up keeping that organized.

[17:23:25] Huttser Ishelwood: Alright then, any questions regarding the Legion in general? Any aspect you need clearing up? Policies ? Ethics? etc.

[17:24:18] Temian Nightfire: What's happening in relation to the Legionary motherships and will we be requesting legion specific equipment in the future?

[17:25:39] Huttser Ishelwood: Legionary motherships are in the pipeline but will be a while of. To my knowledge we will not be receiving specific legionary gear (perhaps different mods of gear however!). All gear available to the Legion will either be general unlock, Legion (33rd and 75th) wide pool or unlock based.

    [17:26:30] Huttser Ishelwood: Anything else?

[17:28:16] Huttser Ishelwood: Alright then. Next item. Is there anything you guys want to see in specific from the Hades Legion? Events, policy or so on?

[17:28:57] Radryl Allen: Can we lead raids even if we are not on Tier 1?

[17:29:08] Huttser Ishelwood: If you are within rank bands, then ys.

    [17:29:11] Huttser Ishelwood: *yes

[17:30:20] Huttser Ishelwood: Anything guys? As much as I love playing the autocratic tyrant, we want this Legion to work for you.

[17:30:32] Temian Nightfire: Personally I'd like to see us rolling across CC in an armoured column, PS2 style ;)

    [17:30:49] Huttser Ishelwood: Oh lord.

[17:32:00] Huttser Ishelwood: Syn, Vincent, since you missed it. Did either of you two have any questions regarding the 33rd or perhaps things you would like to see added or changed?

    [17:32:50] Syn Solo: No Sir

[17:32:54] Vincent Kroitschov: WE NEED MECHS WITH FLIGHT CAPIBILITY AND TWIN SHOULDER MOUNTED ROCKET LAUNCHERS

[17:33:04] Vincent Kroitschov: other than that

[17:33:07] Huttser Ishelwood: I'll pass it to Munitorium XD

    [17:33:08] Vincent Kroitschov: nothing else

[17:33:12] Reinhardt Stenvaag: ... mechs would be nice... well realisticly equiped

    [17:33:13] Vincent Kroitschov: :D

[17:33:14] Huttser Ishelwood: Works for me~

[17:33:34] Vincent Kroitschov: what teh aegis can have like a billion rockets

[17:33:35] Huttser Ishelwood: Hey, if we can get Clan Madcats/Timberwolves I'll be over the moon, that aside though.

    [17:33:58] Tsume Xiao: ._.

[17:34:02] Vincent Kroitschov: realistically only having two wil be a downgrade on that munition type for more ammo for the gun

    [17:34:03] Vincent Kroitschov: XD

[17:34:31] Disraeli Calderwood must be the only one here not playing PS2.

[17:35:06] Huttser Ishelwood: Last thing I want your guys input on. Whenever a unit is founded, we always ask should we hold monthly meetings/ weekly meetings bi-weekly and so on for infinite variations. My question to you guys is do you want some sort of Legion wide meeting at regular intervals or would you rather just leave it for special occasions?

[17:35:34] Disraeli Calderwood: Regular would be cool.

[17:36:02] Syn Solo: I'm in favor of a regular one

[17:36:15] Vincent Kroitschov: a weekly meeting would be awesome!

    [17:36:22] Vincent Kroitschov: /regular

    [17:36:28] Disraeli Calderwood: ...bi-weekly.

[17:36:33] Genesis Ronmark: depending on future schedules for everyone it seems good to do a regular until something changes but im sure it can be moved as needed

[17:36:33] Dascede Aluveaux: Agreed, a scheduled time would be better

[17:36:35] Reinhardt Stenvaag: bi-weekly is good. so there is no overload of meetings... yet still give us regular contact.... communication and activity, breed communicationa nd activity

    [17:37:06] Huttser Ishelwood: Hmm, alright.

[17:37:36] Huttser Ishelwood: How about one every month, on say the first Saturday at 5PM SLT?

    [17:38:18] Disraeli Calderwood nods.

[17:38:26] Huttser Ishelwood: That work for everyone?

[17:38:43] Genesis Ronmark: I'm okay with it

    [17:38:48] Disraeli Calderwood: Yup.

[17:38:52] Vincent Kroitschov: Yes sir that works for me

[17:38:53] Keller Teichmann: Once a month'd be gud.

[17:39:00] Tsume Xiao: Works for me.

    [17:39:08] Dascede Aluveaux: Sounds good.

    [17:39:10] Syn Solo: Aye aye

[17:39:20] Keller Teichmann: You can always keep in touch with your unit leads at... pretty much any time of day as well, in case something comes up between meetings.

[17:39:23] Reinhardt Stenvaag: Works for me

[17:39:45] Huttser Ishelwood: Yup. Any member of the LCT will be happy to help you with any questions/issues you may have.

[17:40:45] Huttser Ishelwood: Additionally, I'm appointing Keller as a member of the LCT without portfolio. He will be a general point of contact if you have an issues/need an officer/need an LCT member as long as he is online.

[17:41:25] Keller Teichmann: I'll also post my Skype info somewhere. I'm on it at pretty much any time of day, so you can reach me even when I'm at work.

    [17:41:30] Keller Teichmann: Just don't voicecall. >:l

[17:42:05] Vincent Kroitschov: who would do such a thing out of hatred for typing >.>

[17:42:18] Huttser Ishelwood: Oh boy. We get to induct someone infront of the whole Legion.

    [17:42:31] Huttser Ishelwood: Oh NV<

[17:42:40] Huttser Ishelwood: Aryte hasn't inducted him yet, he's safe.

    [17:42:47] Hokusai Otsuka: For now.

    [17:42:59] Aryte Vesperia: dum

[17:44:01] Syn Solo: We get Mittens?

[17:44:38] Huttser Ishelwood: Alright, on a closing note. If you haven't already, be sure to go grab your Legion armor from the lockers. The Legion logo goes on the centre of the shoulder shield, using the respective LCT/Tier 1/CGF/CAG texture

[17:45:26] Huttser Ishelwood: There's a test on the armor, you need to fix both the rank and the purple leg plate. Have no fear though, if you struggle, other Hades members will be happy to help.

[17:45:38] Huttser Ishelwood: Any final questions from people?

[17:45:50] Disraeli Calderwood shakes his head.

    [17:45:51] Keller Teichmann: ...howdoyoufixthepurple.

[17:46:02] Keller Teichmann: crossing my legs like this is pretty uncomfortable. >:l

[17:46:17] Huttser Ishelwood: No help 4 keller.

    [17:46:24] Reinhardt Stenvaag: Acknowledged

[17:46:53] Hokusai Otsuka was fixing leg plates before it was cool.

    [17:47:06] Larry Furlough: hokusai pls

    [17:47:12] Huttser Ishelwood: Final call?

[17:47:30] Vincent Kroitschov: how do we get the purple one?

    [17:47:39] Huttser Ishelwood: You don't >:[

    [17:47:45] Vincent Kroitschov: :(

    [17:47:49] Vincent Kroitschov: but

    [17:47:49] Vincent Kroitschov: but

    [17:47:53] Vincent Kroitschov: awwww

[17:47:57] Larry Furlough: you have to talk to the magical troll under the SW bridge, pay him five pence (i know that doesn't exist in SL, but you'll make it work), and then he'll tell you.

    [17:48:00] Larry Furlough: /badlyexecutedjokego

[17:48:10] Huttser Ishelwood: Well it's a pleasure to see you all part of the Legion. Men and women of the 33rd, you are dismissed.

[17:48:11] Hokusai Otsuka: Well, you join 21Fur2. . I mean, what Huttser said.

[17:48:13] Huttser Ishelwood salutes, "Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori."

    [17:48:25] Tsume Xiao salutes. "Eeeyup."

[17:48:26] Genesis Ronmark salutes! "Libera et impera!"

    [17:48:27] Syn Solo salutes!

    [17:48:32] piDelia Magic salutes!

    [17:48:34] Kyra Vixen salutes!

[17:48:35] Reinhardt Stenvaag salutes, barking out proudly "I march for Titan. AND I SHALL KNOW NO FEAR!!!"

[17:48:38] Huttser Ishelwood: Main meeting, gogogo.

[17:48:40] Dascede Aluveaux salutes. "By His will."

[17:48:42] Huttser Ishelwood: Storm the place
