General Reminder

Recommended Posts

Every so often, I hear reports of people leaving because they don't feel like they can dedicate enough time to the Ordo to remain a member. This always disappoints me, as there is another approach you can take.

Both Terra and Astra have units dedicated specifically to low to inactive members. The Ordo is a volunteer organization. We are not a group that demands full attention at all times, and that will demote you if you get in a car accident and can't make it to a meeting. There are groups like that out there, but we are not one of them. The Ordo prides itself on being the being the absolute best, and that's a standard we hold all of our members to. If you have made it through the recruitment and training process, then you are one of us, and we are glad to have you and whatever amount of time you can spare, no matter how little it may be. You don't have to spend so many hours a week on sim. The only amount of participation we expect from you is what you want to give, and nothing more. This also holds true if you plan to go inactive for a long period of time. It is perfectly fine to request a transfer to the reserves while you are gone. Hell, look at Krow. We thought we'd never see him again, but he's back and kicking ass. When you come back, we can pull you right back into the mix.

The point I want to make is this: You do not have to leave the Ordo if you are unable to contribute a ton of time. If you have to lower your activity, or go inactive for a while... don't leave the group. Just give Aryte a heads up and let him know you need a transfer. While the formal transfer itself will be handled by your division command and not the Imperator, there is another thing that separates us from other groups. Aryte actually gives a damn about each and every member, and likes to know what's going on... not for the sake of the group, but to make sure everything is okay.

If you, or anyone you know of, is thinking of leaving because of the inability to devote time to the group, remember this. However, if you really want to leave the group, please show us the respect of actually telling us why you are leaving, instead of using inactivity as a cop out. Be honest. We will not crucify you for wanting to go join a friend in another military.
