The first raid parties I took part in under Huttser were organized extremely well and went off pretty much without a hitch. We steamrolled through some of the best both NC and VS had to offer and hardly broke a sweat.

The current way the Ordo outfit is handling themselves in a large fight is upside down retarded. The only way to succeed in attacking multiple hexes at the same time is getting multiple outfits co-operating. If we had other outfits on that server online at the same time who would be willing to coop up, that would be fantastic. But as seen yesterday with the ABC adventure, all of our Gals got shot down by interceptors or groundfire.

This was primarily because we were told to pile into a single Galaxy with no air support, and our designated objective required flying over four highly contested hexes, and a Vanu-controlled air tower. We were sitting ducks. We would've been in tough to make it even if we had an air escort. Even if we had one and survived, we would've been wiped out to no avail as the contested hex we needed to capture said point was already gone before we were halfway to the target.

We need to stop placing such a huge amount of confidence in ourselves and start relying on other outfits as well to do the other shit that needs to be done. If we split up, we die because we're weak. If we stay together and act as a cohesive force, there is a greater chance of success. Strength in numbers is still strength, but we can't hold the entire campaign map by ourselves. If TR falls because we did our part but others didn't do theirs, then ok.

Directed properly, we've already proven we can smash through the best outfits that NC and VS have to offer. We did it with less then a third of the manpower we had during the 'ABC' mess. We did it so well we literally pushed Vanu back from just short of our Warpgate, to their own, and we then proceeded to do an Alamo and prevent them from mounting any serious offense for two hours. We can't hold the map ourselves, but we can make a serious impact in the front lines deployed properly.

Another thing is speed. Most of the Ordo people aren't trained in assuming formations or reading a tactical map, even. Rudimentary tactics are key to success in this game because the faster you get off the warp, the better. If we spend 30 minutes organizing, you bet our asses will be toast. We can even drop this channel commander BS and lob 50 people into one channel and make it work. It's really simple, you shut the Ffff up and let the people in command do the talking.

If we take 30 minutes to organize and still have the same target 30 minutes later, there is an issue. And with how chaotic PlanetSide combat is, we most certainly can't have three different squads tasked with three different points or tasks in the same channel. Even if it's only COs or XOs talking, that's still 3 - 6 people talking, that's still bloody confusing to everyone listening trying to discern what their orders are. It's chaotic and will just lead to a breakdown of discipline.

Another problem is our reliance on aircraft as a mode of transportation to hotspots. We need to use Sunderers and tanks more when travelling to highly active combat zones. Gals are nothing but targets on hotdrops.

Galaxies are also presently the only means of a reliable resupply, and they are absolutely invaluable at taking sky towers and major bases due to their ability to become literal miniature fortresses on the all-important top level. They also work brilliantly as rapid deployment vehicles, something which we made repeated use of during our little crusade across the continent. Given air cover, and they're far more reliable and far less exposed then a tank column would be - the tank column sounds cool and all, but at present it only takes a Liberator or two to absolutely wreck one.

Still getting a footing in PS2. Once things transition into less of a beta version and more of a full version, we can really push it home (Ron). Right now is the best time to fuck up, test how things work, and claw our way to a better understanding of the game. So let's not be too sensitive over how things turn out, quite yet.

If you guys truly want to split up into channels, here's how you do it.

Team Commander/General whatever (Usually in a channel by himself or with a very small command squad)

Can speak to all channels, can speak to all squad leaders, can speak to squad leaders individually

Squads get their own channel, one squad leader per channel per squad

Squad leaders can talk to the commander, squad leaders can talk to their men.

It's better to name each squad, then use your numpad to correspond with those squads (provided you're the commander). You'll probably have to write down the squad names with the number to remember. Then write who's in command of what. So when you press numpad 7 to talk to Hitman Actual, your paper should look like "7 Squad - Hitman - Ron Bleac." It's good practice to have a squad name for each number on your numpad. It should be universal for all commanders, so write it up somewhere on the forums. If this gets as big as you guys want it to, you'll end up using those keys, trust me.

Just name the squads for now. The commanders of those squads will shift. Put a call out on the PS2 forums and say that Ordo is hosting a "walk-ins" night on Saturday and include our TS info. You'll have a whole week to practice this channel commander thing and get the channels set up.

Ask questions, I'll answer. Source: I was doing this while most of you were in Junior High. (BF1942 League, BF2142 League)

I would like to add that this is the only set of rules you really need right now. Don't convolute the game with all this crap nobody's going to read or practice anyway. Leave it at ART and let people be smart enough to know how to fight.

Also, commander should give orders only to squad leaders, not an entire channel. Such as "Hey, take the alpha point." The squad leader will give more specific orders to his men.

I've single handedly ripped a few armoured columns to shreds though.. those ground defensive turrets are rather powerful and so are the AT launchers, just keep running behind something or run to different turrets like an annoying little bugger.. >.>

Sure I've seen the occasional transport get shot down but usually only when they fly in when there's already a lot of air activity, when there is hardly no air assets people abandon the AA turrets because they want to go shoot stuff.

As I'd mentioned in Ts. Approach it from a casual/hardcore player perspective. Casual players can be X squad, hardcore can be other.

Some days a hardcore player may want to just dick around and hang out in the casual squad (and vice versa).

Agreed, we'll have plenty of players wanting some of one or the other, and we have squad leaders who will give it to them. Both can make quite a bit of progress, just depends on how they mesh.

I re-captured a number of facilities yesterday just by sitting still on a roof till everyone ran off to the next hotspot.

Also had a very good run as a medic together with another medic, we infiltrated and took down all but the central shielding in the zaruva(or something) place after it had been taken over by those purple bastards. This allowed other infantry to roll in and re-take the place.

Though it almost feels that when this game comes out of beta, that the map will be too small.

It's only one quarter of the main map, I'm being told. There will be four continents, like in the original. And I'm hearing about transport to other planets to fight on them, too.

PLANETSIDE 2 LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED!

>Date: 2012-10-18 18:00:00

Grunts, the war is coming. Prepare yourselves now for epic combat on a massive scale like you have never seen before. PlanetSide 2 launches November 20th!

If you weren't watching our livestream from SOE Live in Las Vegas, you definitely missed out on this and more exciting PlanetSide 2 news. Beyond PlanetSide 2 launching in November, the team also informed us that the battle for Auraxis will soon expand to a third continent, dark, swamp-infested Amerish, following from rocky Indar and arctic Esamir. But we can’t have you running around without solid intel, so let’s get you fully briefed on what’s happening.

The most important thing to know is an official launch date has now been announced, so this is not a drill. On November 20th, PlanetSide 2 will officially launch completely free to play for everyone. This means no more closed Beta, character wipes, and any of the other fun stuff associated with testing. No more do overs. Live ammunition will be issued, and you have authorization to go weapons free. Your empire’s future depends on you.

Gather your squads, your platoons, and your outfits. You will need to hone your skills, certifications, and equipment to a finer edge than your combat knife. Choose your empire now and swear your allegiance while you can. If you wish it, you will need to join the Alpha Squad very shortly, or forgo the honor forever. You will need to master your ground vehicles, your aircraft, and your infantry classes. You will need to study your battlefield and know it whether blind or bleeding, day or night. Indar. Esamir. Amerish. This is your home now grunt.

When the warpgates open, when the drop pods fly, when the first shots break the silence, remember this. There is no turning back. Remember your training and you will survive. This is it. This is war.

This is PlanetSide 2.

For continuing news coverage and to continue your preparations, please join us on our Twitch.tv channel to see what you’ve missed, and we’ll see you on Auraxis on November 20th!

So you lot play Terran Republic, too. I've just spent the entire beta period in a mosquito..

Hey Myst! You wanna join Ordo?

I hate the Mosquito, gimmie a Reaver or Scythe any day over it, although she has a magical death canon on her and yeah its fast but I prefer my flying tank of maneuverability or my ficken thing that... Turns fast in air good.
