Patrol Zone: Extended

Recommended Posts

So why not just stick to the old zones with the "Green Zone being the Primary Patrol Zone and rest of the East side of the ravine the Yellow Zone like before if as You say primary defense should be conducted from the wall?

Because it's actually extremely boring to hide in a tiny fortress behind a wall all the time. Boring for both sides. You'll notice in our raids that some of the groups we fight actually leave their base to engage, and when we get into close quarters fights around hills or buildings it's a lot of fun and good variety. It's also tactically advantageous for us to not all be cramped into one small area which can be sprayed with bullets or bombs. We generally have plenty of defenders to cover both the base and the area around it, and now that we have some good cover outside of the base, there's not a lot of reason to restrict that area to us. We'd also been accused (by Waagh for example) of doing nothing but "hiding" in our base, so a few people outside the walls now and then could only do our reputation good.

Why don't we keep the patrol zones the way they are and just let are troops go into the minimal patrol zone during a defense?

As making the bridges yellow means we can walk into the not patrol zone since they cross into there as shown in the picture.

Main defense should be from the wall, we should only need to go into the yellow area on the picture to rout and hard to hit enemy.

As making the whole of the yellow green puts the attacking enemy at a disadvantage thus making it un-fair to them.

Particularly since having the whole yellow area become green, it makes it much harder for the enemy to advance which makes the power station that Niiya setup which when scripted will bring down are shields once the code is punched in totally useless as the enemy will never make it close enough.

Then the enemy will say are being unfair by giving them a way to get into our base but then making it too hard to get to.

Our sim is hard enough to attack as it is, the new patrol zones just made it twice as tough and you need to remember that we aren't attacked at the moment by enemies that field large numbers, mainly cause they can't.

BTW is this what Your talking about?

I like expanding the patrol zone. It makes us spread out more. As it is, when someone shows up, they have 10 people firing on them from a nearly insurmountable wall. If we have more territory to cover, with the new sim layout that poor sod will actually stand a chance at making it halfway up a hill.

It is necessary to expand patrol provisions beyond the wall to stay away from the age old concept that other militaries have followed; being there a giant wall with a field in front of it where people spawn. It doesn't allow for any variable if everyone is just standing on the wall shooting at someone who has only one direction to go.

With the modifications to the sim, concerning the positions from which an enemy would possibly shoot from, and such, the new system makes combat more dynamic, more involving, and also more fair for the attackers.

With mobility, also comes a reduction of available cover and massed firepower, something the ORdo has been accused of abusing in the past. This will negate the negative rumors in due time, while still handing us the upper hand.
