The Imperiosus Cult Liturgy

Recommended Posts

The Imperiosus cult is loosely linked to the Ordo. It has all those great things cults need. A figurehead (Aryte) and various cool sounding titles, as well as funny (and maybe a bit creepy) liturgical texts.

Yes. Some of the sayings are modified Ecclisiarchy text and such. Everything else, past a certain point, are ones made up to match the style of the sayings.

Forward and Notes from the Author |----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hail to you, members of the Imperiosus Cult.

The primary purpose of this official liturgical book is to give a basic set of common sermons, prayers, hymns, mantras, and sayings to give to those in the Ordo who are not expressly part of the cult. The purpose is two fold: To provide morale boosting activities and to deepen the experience and environment of the Ordo Imperialis as a whole. It also answers some questions, like "What ARE the frenzied chants the Ordo soldiers mumble as they strike down the heretics?" This book will help answer this and other similar questions.

Translated from High Gothic, some of the liturgy was drawn from the depths of the past, which served once to offer praise to the Lady of Victory, the Genius of Imperator Aryte. What is the Genius? Though covered more in depth with other cult documents, you could say it is the personified spirit that the Imperator projects and carries with him, which at the same time guides the Imperator. It would just as easy to pay homage to other aspects of his being, like handsome, striking features, or a fluffy white tail, but the Lady of Victory follows him (much like his tail) and it is to this genius that we pay homage to.

At many points, there will be notes and annotations concerning the liturgy, explaining how to best apply them or the intended purpose of a given passage.

Disclaimer note: Please, this is not a real religion. Aryte is an awesome guy and may appear at times nigh on god-like. Take everything with a grain of salt, but enjoy yourselves at the same time!

Section 1: Sermons for the Faithful |>--------------------------------------------------------------------

________________________________________________________________________________

Notes on sermons from the author:

Sermons in the Imperious Cult, in this case, refer to small extremely patriotic speeches given to bolster the troops or bring out a needed set of emotions for the sake of the organization. Given orally, on Ventrilo to a squad, or over voice is just as effective for the verbally inclined, as to typing them out! The more passionate and frenzied, the more effective a member of the cult you'll be.

These are best used given to small groups or even medium to large sized gatherings of personnel.

Primarily, they are meant to raise morale, garner fierce loyalty, and provide a reassuring word to the worried and doubtful.

Also, let these give the prospective Cleric, Priest, or Chaplain a guide for what a rousing sermon can look like. Change the wording or fit it to the occasion, just make sure it has the needed impact!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a. Sermon for the Common Soldier

En Honoriam Imperator, Brothers and Sisters!

Today we gather to pay honor to the foundation of the Ordo Imperialis. The steady rock upon which it has been built. Today, we honor you, my brothers and sisters in arms! For all you have toiled, all you have worked for, has made the Ordo mightiest among all it's allies and competitors! The Imperator has guided us, but without you, there would be no Victory, no Glory, no Ordo Imperialis!

The greatest of monuments are laid out on a strong foundation, and the monument of dignity, honor, and skill that the Ordo stands for is every Rank and File member of this august gathering.

The Imperator, like a master mason has chosen each stone for it's place in the monument, and you, the strongest, the sturdiest, the most loyal and stalwart hold it all up. You are chosen! You are the best trained, the best equipped, and the most faithful of all the armies past, present, and future. Serve with dignity and pride in your uniform, and serve the Imperator. He who serves the Imperator, serves the Ordo. And he who serves the Ordo, serves the Imperator. Stand proud, noble warriors of the Imperium, and remember that upon you, all victory hinges. Be confident in your leaders, your comrades, and your Imperator. Along that path, will victory and glory always be yours.

Go now and continue to serve his will and the will of the Ordo!

Annotation: Use during Terra and Astra contests, ceremonies, with schola, or the recently enlisted.

b. Sermon for the Victorious Dead

Today we remember the Victorious Dead.

Not in vain, did our comrades die. Not in failure, did they sacrifice their lives. The way to victory has been paved with their noble gesture of loyalty and service, the path of judgment they have tread and have passed all tests. Victory, Brothers and Sisters, is their gift to you. Victory and Life. You live this day in the Imperator's vast armies thanks to those who died before you. You live this day, in the light of the Ordo Imperialis, because men and women came and laid down their precious lives for your sakes. Never forget them. Remember their names like a prayer, as you strike down your foes. Remember their names during hardship and during celebration. It is they, those loyal and dedicated soldiers who are the greatest heroes of the Ordo Imperialis.

Pray that one day, you too may match their bravery in service to the Imperator. Pray that you too may be recounted among the Victorious Dead.

Annotation: Use especially at any occasion where remembrance is called for.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

c. Sermon for the Battlefield

Brothers and Sisters in arms, now is the time to sow the seeds of death among our foes.

Stride out bravely onto the field of battle, and fear not for the Imperator watches and guides you all. Victory will always be yours. Fight with dignity, honor, skill, and give no quarter to your enemy. Our enemies only know how to give no quarter in battle. In all other ways, will they try to achieve victory. Show them what a true warrior is. If you fall this day, let it be surrounded by the broken bodies of your fallen foes. Salt the earth and stain the ground red with their blood. Cleanse their heresy, their lies, and their treachery from the world. Fight true and fight hard, noble warriors of the glorious Imperator, for today you may join the ranks of the Victorious Dead.

Go now, our enemies lie before you in legions and you, the reapers of death, shall partake in a grim harvest this day. May our enemies be scattered and blown like dust in the wind.

Victory and Glory for the Imperator!

Annotation: Best given before or during a large offensive. Also good for a small group about to go on a raid, or for a group of recently enlisted soldiers on their first raid, etc.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

d. Sermon for the Sentinels at the Gates

Hail to you, valiant sentinels!

Remember that when all seems quiet, while the enemy is engaged in combat with your comrades, is the most likely time that your foes will strike. Like thieves in the night, they will attempt to slip past us, and the Imperator in his infinite wisdom knows this. That is why he trusts you, Brothers and Sisters to watch the gates, stand sentry against their foul incursions, and secure our homeland. Never has an enemy come victorious to us, and never has an enemy bettered us on our own ground. Steadfast and loyal servants, know your duty is honorable and a credit to your devotion. Thankless though this service may seem at times, the Imperator knows the importance of what you do. Know that for the Imperator, your place too is honored. Being asked to stand guard is just as great a notion of trust, as to be called to battle in foreign lands.

Rejoice in your duty, Brothers and Sisters, for you hold the keys to our gates! Rejoice, because those who defend the homeland, defend the entire Ordo Imperialis and the enemy fears this.

Annotation: Best given to those on guard duty. This can be a boring but necessary job, so honor them.

<[ LITANIES ]>

Notes on Litanies:

Litanies are responsive prayers in the general parlance of religion. In this case, they are more praises and appeals to the Imperator and the Lady of Victory. A member of the cult would lead a litany, with the faithful soldiers giving the response after each line.

Once again, could be given orally to the the faithful on voice or Ventrilo (In a channel where it wouldn't upset others who don't care to partake!) or being typed, as your whimsy may take you.

Excellent for pepping up soldiers, and can be done again and again to provide a measure of comfort or routine.

For the sake of readability, the response will be posted once, then each time it's to be said by the congregation, a [R] will be shown in it's place.

{The Litany of Tea Time (Officers) is a joke. Under no circumstances should you ever really use it. Unless commanded by the Imperator. The Litany of the Dead is another joke.}

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a. The Litany of Dawn

Brothers and Sisters in arms, another Dawn is upon you, another day in service to the Imperator and Ordo awaits you!

[Response] Hail the dawn! Hail the Ordo! Hail the Imperator! Another day of Victory is here!

Rise and put on your armor, ready your weapons, and prepare your faith! Wrap yourselves in the cloak of righteousness, the cloth of justice we bring to the world!

[R]

Today we again stand watch over our sovereign lands, today again do we look out over the gates of the Ordo Imperialis! Another day of service and duty! Another day where you take up arms beside your kindred brethren against heresy and madness!

[R]

Today we prevail again! Today we see another Victory! Today, we again stand proud as warriors in the Ordo!

[R]

Blessings of Victory and Might be upon you all, this day! Hail the Dawn! Hail the Ordo! Hail the Imperator! Another day of Victory is here!

Annotation: Good for rallying the troops in the morning!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

b. The Litany of Noon

Brothers and Sisters in arms! Noon is upon us, the sun is high, and we rejoice in our duty! Reflect on your morning, and look forward to the rest of the day! Victory and Glory are with us!

[Response] Hail the Noon-day! Glory and Victory to the Ordo Imperialis!

Like the bright star above us, we illuminate the world and bring it order and justice out of chaos and madness!

[R]

Like the heaven held fire of the Sun, only the unrighteous and doubtful need fear the heat of our faith and conviction! Only they will be burned by our cleansing flames of truth!

[R]

With the light and flame of faith, we lead the way in dark places full of treachery and heresy! Those unfortunate lost souls will be blinded like a man who stares into the sun for too long, because we are too brilliant, too mighty for them to behold for long!

[R]

Strike up praises to the Imperator! Let our voices ring clear and true! Hail the Noon-day! Glory and Victory to the Ordo Imperialis!

Annotation: Always a good way to pick up morale on a slow day.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

c. The Litany of Tea Time (Officers)

Note: Officers need not respond, they may have a mouthful of tea or some nice biscuits at the moment.

Officers of the Ordo, remember as you take your tea and cakes, the Imperator has provided these blessings for your service! Take each sip and sugar cube as a gift, each delicious cake in memory of your duty!

[Response] Mmffmfdf! mdfmmh! Omphmmff mmuhmff! (Spray of biscuit crumbs or cake is traditional)

Officers of the Ordo, recall your men as you relax in plush chairs and enjoy your tea! Remember that each bite of biscuit you take, you take it for them!

[R]

Officers of the Ordo, you are paragons of service and duty! Shining beacons of purpose! Let not a crumb or coffee stain blemish your might! Tea is more difficult to get out sometimes.

Annotation: ...I think I missed something in the translation of this one...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

d. The Litany of Night

Brothers and Sisters of the Ordo! Fear not the darkness of night! We bring light to dark places and we carry hope of a new Dawn in the Imperator's service!

[Response] Light the lanterns of Duty! We stand guard even in darkness, for a new Dawn comes!

Man the walls! Lock the gates! Let no thieving foe slip into our midst! Let no conniving heretic despoil the name of the Ordo and the Imperator! Victory in all things!

[R]

Let some rest while you keep watch! In darkness, the enemy dwells! But we carry light and we see our foes!

[R]

Hail to the Imperator! He rides a blazing saddle through history, he is a shining star of light, his job to offer battle to foes near and far! He turns dark night into the light of day!

Annotation: Keeps the night watch on its toes.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

e. The Litany of the Living

Rejoice, we live in the Imperator's service! We live for his will! Draw each breath in his name!

Turn not to those who are about to die, for it will not be you! Your enemies shall fall like reeds in a whirlwind!

[Response] Hail to the Living, the mighty warriors of the Imperator! Death and Ruin to our foes! Death and Ruin to those who would oppose the Ordo Imperialis!

Remember your comrades, remember those who lead you! Remember that you are the Light and Glory of the Imperium!

[R]

Heed the flow of battle! Know you are the very water which is a deluge upon your enemy's head! cleanse them with righteous fire and cut their souls from their broken bodies! Swords of the Ordo, rise forth and bring Victory once again!

[R]

Let the Imperator's name be upon your lips for every foe you bring low! Every bullet, every bomb and missile you heave at your enemies, do it for his Glory! Hail to the Living, the mighty warriors of the Imperator! Death and Ruin to our foes! Death and Ruin to those who would oppose the Ordo Imperialis!

Annotation: A rousing litany for or during battle.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

g. The Litany of the Dead

Note: Do not give unless you are dead and so is your congregation.

We Victorious Dead! We have mouldered away and become bleached bones! White and pure in death! Lament not your service to the Imperator!

[Response] Them bones, them bones, them dry bones! Hail to the Imperator, Baby!

The hip bone is connected to the spine bone! The spine bone is connected to the rib bone! The Rib bone is connect to the sternum! And somewhere in there, is the head! The point is, the point is! we are all part of a greater thing!

[R]

The Imperator rocks and rolls, all night long, sweet baby Suzy!

Skulls for the skull throne!

Annotation: I had to fill in heavily stained and obscure parts of this litany. I'm not sure where the rest of it is...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

h. The Litany of War

Praise the Imperator as we await the hour of War! We are the storms of victory and it is in the name of the Imperator that we shall rain death upon our enemies! In our our death and our service to the Imperator is our Glory! By blood and bones do we pave the path to victory! And by fire do we cleanse those who are undeserving!

[Response] Praise the Imperator for this day we bring Death! Praise the Imperator for on this day we spill blood! In his name and for his glory, we got to War!

Make sacred the fields and cities with blood of the fallen! Pave the road of victory with blood and bones! There is no future, there is no past, there is only War this day! Praise the Imperator, for this day we die in his name! In Victory, we are reborn!

[R]

By War are we made! And by War we are undone! Bourne onto the battlefield, with our deaths do we fuel the flames of War!!! At our backs are the Winds of Fury, under our feet the ashes of Ruin!

[R]

We unite as they scatter! We march forward, as they cower! We sing praise, as they tremble! No Fear! No Retreat! No doubt! In his name, Glory to the Imperator!

[R]

Victorius are those that die, triumphant are those that live! Filled with the will of Victory, we are filled with the Glory of the Imperator! We his chosen, his children, his dead, and his servants, chant endless praises in his Honor! In War we are made whole, by his will, we are his sword! Praise the Imperator! Praise Victory!

[R]

Praise the Imperator for this day you bring Death! Praise the Imperator for on this day we spill blood! In his name and for his glory, we go to war!

Ave Imperator! Gloria Imperialis!

Annotation: Excellent for rallying troops before battle.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

i. The Litany of Duty

Swear this day upon the fealty of our Lord, the Imperator and the Lady of Victory, that you chosen few will uphold your sacred Duty.

[Response] We swear our Duty to the Imperator and the Lady of Victory. Glory and Death in his name!

Speak this now, our holy oath that dishonor and death take you should you fail in your Duty to the Ordo Imperialis and the Glorious Imperator!

[R]

Speak this now, our holy pledge that in all ways, we are loyal in service and obedient in heart, mind, and soul to the will of the Imperator and his greater servants!

[R]

Speak this now, our holy prayer that always will we fulfill our word, our bond, our given Duty, for his sake and the sake of your comrades in arms.

[R]

Oblivion and ruin on those who take this holy litany lightly, madness and despair hold those who would blaspheme their sworn duty! We swear our Duty to the Imperator and the Lady of Victory. Glory and Death in his name!

Annotation: Good for any sort of swearing in type ceremony.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

j. The Litany of Judgment

Note: Only to be used when someone has been proven to be a heretic within the Imperiosus Cult.

Hark, the trial is past, the Judgment declared, the accused shown guilty! Heresy and madness have taken them!

[Response] Death and Torment await the guilty! Accursed betrayer of faith! The Glorious Imperator will strike your name from all memory!

See now the righteous justice brought upon the accused! Let them no longer blaspheme the faith of the Ordo, the trust of the Imperator, and the fidelity of the warrior!

[R]

Remove from all annals, erase from all ledgers, scratch out from all monuments the name of this heretic! No honor or glory will be recalled in your name! Damned to be forgotten for all eternity is now your given role!

[R]

No mercy or clemency will you be given, the Aegis of the Ordo covers you not! Exile, pariah, soulless shade of night! Chaos and madness fill your broken shell! The guilty have no place in the light!

[R]

Excommunicated from the faith and bereft of glory, your name will be blotted out of history! Death and Torment await the guilty! Accursed betrayer of faith! The Glorius Imperator will strike your name from all memory!

<[ MANTRAS |>

Notes on Mantras:

Mantras are chanted truisms and maxims, said over and over again in order to bolster the soul and mind, or provide comfort in some cases. One can chant a mantra for hours, if they so wish.

Use mantras in battle, drive yourself into a righteous frenzy of death and piety!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a. Mantra of Battle

In battle, I will be a breathing weapon, an extension of the fury of the Imperator.

Let death fly true from me to my foes and strike them where they stand.

May fear and madness take them to their hellish graves.

I am protected by the Imperator, my faith is my armor.

I will become war itself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

b. Mantra Against Fear

I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.

Fear is the little-death that brings total oblivion.

I will face my fear.

I will permit it to pass over and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

c. Praetorian's Mantra

Note: Though called the Praetorian's Mantra, any servant of the Imperator can use it.

I am the spear in his hand.

I am the sword of Justice.

I am the Shield of the Righteous.

I am the Light in the Dark.

I am his weapon, he is my arm.

I am beyond the touch of my foes.

I will lay to waste and ruin all who stand against him.

I am loyal to him in life and death.

I will prevail.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

d. Loricatum Fides Sanctus Gloria

(Armor of Faith, Sacred Glory)

Armor of Faith, Sacred Glory,

Lead me to Victory over my foes.

Armor of Faith, Sacred Glory,

Guide my arm in war.

Armor of Faith, Sacred Glory,

Allow me to serve his will.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

e. Laedo Ledo Pro Imperator

(Strike Hard for the Imperator)

Strike hard for the Imperator!

Let my aim be true!

Let fly this bolt of death!

Let ruin strike the Heretic down!

31125 Live in supplication to the Imperator.

31126 Die not for the man beside you, but for the Imperator.

31127 Cast not your life away in vain.

31128 Fight as one, live as one, die as one.

31129 The faithful abhors the merciful.

31130 To give your life for your comrades, is to give your life for the Imperator.

31131 The Holy Imperator provides all.

31132 Honor the Victorious Dead by never doubting.

31133 Life is War.

31134 The deserter is shot.

31135 The heretic is burned.

31136 The blasphemer is hanged.

31137 Worship not death, but honor it well.

31138 Death is not better than life. It is only more life.

31139 Forgive the comrade, not the heretic.

31140 He is eternal.

31141 Never question his will.

31142 Indoctrination is better than knowledge.

31143 Retreat but one inch in battle and you give the enemy the whole war.

31144 Give nothing to your enemies, give everything to the Imperator.

31145 In his glorious name.

31146 Those that fear are the first to fall.

31147 Never hesitate to show magnanimity to your comrades and never hesitate to show ruthlessness to your enemies.

31148 To waver is to doubt his will.

31149 The lazy or disloyal servant is easily replaced, the hard working and devoted, indispensable.

31150 Lament that you have but one life to give in his service.

31151 Hold the line and fight.

31152 Mistrust your enemy as one builds a wall: Strongly.

31153 Faith is the true test of loyalty.

31154 Your next words, choose them carefully.

31155 Serve the Ordo and the Ordo will serve you.

31156 Submit or die, the choice is yours.

31157 A moment of laxity breeds a lifetime of Heresy.

31158 Bravery is not rewarded, it is required.

31159 Recall the Praetorians: Duty and Service before all things.

31160 Obedience and service shall be the whole of the law.

31161 Justice may be blind, but the Imperator perceives all.

31162 There is no Mercy, but there is the Imperator.

31163 Judgement will be passed on all.

31164 The Imperator brings Ruin upon the faithless.

31165 Any Truth other than the Imperator is lacking.

31167 Fear naught and know he is with you always.
