Xoza
So.. I'm thinking of a new HDD...What I have now...C: 650 GB = My Main Boot Drive, I all my installed programs and games sit here, but I'm only at 116GB free at the moment.D: 1.5TB = Storage / media and more. Everything I don't have installed, all my media, documents large and small, old games. 687 GB leftE: OpticalF: 2TB = external backupI'm REALLY thinking about a 512 SSD, but don't want to shell out the cash for it, HDD's have always been good enough for me and I don't have huge issues with transfer speeds... So I'm thinking about...C: 650 GB = Boot / OS drive only and some smaller installed programs.D: 2 TB? = ALL games and larger programsE: 1.5 TB = Other Storage / Media and DocumentsF: OpticalG: 2 TB = external backupI usually like to go up, but I'm not sure how well the 1.5 TB I have will perform, so I may just get a performance 2+ TB HDD... Kellervo
You do not go for transfer / write rate on an SSD. Using an SSD for that is terrible for its health / condition, even with newer generation models. What you do use SSDs for are games, and your OS. Windows 7 boots up in under 10 seconds for me, and maps and games load in a similar timespan - or even instantaneously. You do not use SSDs for backing up or for media that you will be editing or transferring to the SSD repeatedly.

I looked at my current drives, and found out my 650 is a WD Black and I've had it for 4 years with absolutely no problems.
Firefox Breed
What I am thinking about getting when i get home. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vqUF I have a ATI 6970 and a 1K watt power supply already. Let alone like.. 4 HDDS that are 6Tb together. So this is just mainly long needed upgate.

Recalibar Zaytsev
I'm just waiting for Service pack 1. Likely by then the price of it might drop some as well. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/windows_8_sp1_what_we_hope_see451
Xoza
WELL it takes some getting used too.. There seems to be a lot of customization options left out, but that's it really... Performance is a little better and it doesn't "Boot" faster, because even when it looks like it's done loading, it's still doing stuff in the background. Programs run great once they get running, but seem to take a little longer to start up.

Tsume Xiao
Hey guys I am looking to build a new computer to replace my 5-6 year old one (It runs an Intel E4500 and PCIE was pretty new when I bought the mother board). I was looking at using an i5-4670 but no idea from there. I also already have a GPU. Someone suggested some other parts, let me know what you think / if you have other suggestions Case: COUGAR Evolution Black ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16811553002 )CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80646I54670K ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16819116899 )Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16835103099 )Motherboard: ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16813131981 )RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16820231428 )Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16822148834 )PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE-750 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182073 ) Any good case suggestions? The above person suggested a Cougar Evolution but is looks kinda eh. My current case is pretty awesome and is massive (Lian Li PC-7B) and I despise things like lights and such. A few are fine, but the whole headlight computer thing is annoyingMy current Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112099 Edited November 2, 2013 by Tsume Xiao
Xoza
Could use some links, and is this new, all out rebuild, or a gradual rebuild? So far, by now I'd probably aim for an i7, I don't overclock either so your call on that. Not a fan of ASUS, but a lot of people are and if you've never had an issue, again, go for it. Don't have any experience with G.Skill, spec's look good for pretty much everything I'd think you'd use it for. Though I don't own any currently, Seagate's been good to me. Larger tech companies seem to like them pretty well also. Overall it looks good, though.

Inoue Katsu
Looks decent, but get an SSD for your windows drive (256Gb minimum, win7 already takes like 30)Don't expect anything good 3d wise from the integrated intel graphics.

connor
Anybody having issues with windows 8.1? Everything was working great till I upgraded from 8 to 8.1. Now I cant play SWTOR except in windowed mode. I also can't play netflix over EXPLORER any more either. It says I cant play movies/shows in private mode or something. Its all really weird. I am really thinking about downgrading back to windows 8 unless I can figure these problems out.m On the plus side, the internet does seem to run a little faster now-pecular huh? Xoza
i had cosair 1333mhz for 5 years. i dont get customer server or warranties where i live only a small computer store. While the stores only offer limited warranties (trade in, we're responsible for it for so long stuff) the companies always have their own. It builds trust and brand identity... Corsair for example has a lifetime warrenty on their RAM, call em up ship it back, they'll ship you new ones. The money they 'make' is through the continued advancement of technology and they expect by the time a stick of ram would actually die, it would cost almost nothing to make, or no one would be using them anymore anyway.
