I wouldn't reccomend using anything but XP on a low-spec computer. Any less than 3GB of ram and you're probably not going to have great performance. The anti-virus Cyph linked is one I've used in the past too with great results. Failing that I usually just check the processes and symptoms on Google which usually provides steps for removing it from the registry.

Good job Karl! Those contractors clearly didn't do their health and safety training. The first thing we learned when I was training to be an electrician was that Oil or solvents + rags are the largest cause of fire in the work place.

That's quite true... The high maintainance standards for vheicles and the very strict driving tests in the EU are likely the reason no-one was killed. This makes me wish they'd bring back the death penalty in the UK.

I'm not disputing it's uses... I agree it's quite handy to have a buggy radar display that craps out in heavy lag to tell you who's nearby. What i'm saying is that i get by just fine without it. I wouldn't consider myself among the less-caipable as far as both air and ground combat go. The fact that a repeating sensor is so damaging to sim performance just adds a negative factor to using it.

I don't use the radar at all, and i don't miss it either. I do however use Vertical Life (client) which shows you people's look-at recticles. You can see them right the other side of the sim and if the person is in mouselook; you can see their name in yellow above their head. For all others i just use the default SL minimap to check who's who. Sensors also have a hidden performance cost on a sim. They use CPU as well as standard script time, which can't be detected either. Add that to every person on base, polling even once a second; and we have a good reason why Titan runs sluggish at times.

Those several layers of black prims are a net, they kill naything that's not got an Ordo main group tag on.

As most of you may be aware, work has begun on the new sim build. The build is above the shooting range and has several group filter megaprims guarding it. If you would like to come see the progress you may. However: .Please do not come up there to goof off, anyone shooting unicorns or matresses about and such or driving their vheicles around will be removed. .Please be aware of the defensive situation, it's not an ideal time to go visit the new build when we're under attack. .Please keep your opinions to yourselves. Suggstions are welcome but may not be used or suitable and opinions "omg this sucks" are not. .If you would like to volunteer your help in creating the new sim, please check for the related post in the Munitorum board where you will be allowed to submit a list of your skills and volunteer for work in need of assignment.
