Hunter Abrams
Ok I'll look into the sig too. But after handling the 1911's today... It's hard to think polymer... I mean those where smooth as glass. ;-;
Deadmon
Try out an XD40, It was my first purchase and I really like it for my CC
Markius Fox
Looking at the site you provided, and the caliber you seem to favor. This looks promising, but you sacrifice a few rounds (4 to be specific) http://www.budsgunsh...uble Action Pi/ It's lighter and an all metal pistol. A lil smaller too.If you could slide on roughly 30 dollars on your base price, I could suggest this http://www.budsgunsh...B .45acp Black/ It's a full size, but also .45ACP. Weights more, 10+1. Hi-Power and 1911s are WELL known to be great concealed carry pistols, and the CZ-75 platform pistols are just about the best of both worlds. An even cheaper route is to get one of the EAA CZ-75 platform pistols, they have polymer and steel. Some of the polymers are bellow. In .45ACP: http://www.budsgunsh.../Polymer Frame/In .40S&W: http://www.budsgunsh.../Polymer Frame/and the beefy 10mm: http://www.budsgunsh... Grip/Blue Fin/As you might know, the .40S&W was developed directly from the 10mm with assistance from the FBI. 10mm has a harder kick to it as it has a slightly longer case, and is seen by many as superior to both the .45 and the .40. Hunter Abrams
Yes I favor .40 and .45. I'll check those out too. Read reviews and go back to the gun shop/sOh I had a M&P .40 and don't want another. Branching out a little. Cyphre Iredell
Get the RIA/Armscore and never look back. Their QC has improved plenty over the years, and its well worth the asking price. Otherwise try and find a Springfield GI (Bud's is out of stock it appears), or possibly a Loaded for the next tier up on 1911's.If you're branching away from the M&P, don't bother with the XD.Can't say the polymer CZ's are all that amazing, but their 97 and 75 are really sweet guns. Xoza
P250 .40 or 9mm... they've kits so you could probably get both if you want.

Deadmon
whats its purpose? 1911 dont really make the best CC unless you wanna rock a holster strap which tbh are not awesome. They are great guns though if its just to have or for home defense or whatever.
BlackSergal
As someone who carries a sidearm for his job (ATFP Camp Pendleton) here's the real deal with buying one. Get the one that feels most comfotable. The more you enjoy holding a pistol, the more you'll enjoy shooting it. The more you shoot it, the more accurate you'll become.Don't fall into the common trap that bigger is better, forget that noise. For you, the perfect weapon is

Hunter Abrams
I have been using a full sized pistol for over a year. I'm use to them. Handling a1911 was very comfortable in my hands. I do open carry outings too.9mm is out because winter reasons also don't like the caliber for other reasons. (also use to a .40)I have cc my m&p in the house with little problem. Just needed a baggier shirt and waistband holster. When I'm in my truck it's in the center console.Bumping up to $700 because buds apparently adds the taxes into the main price and they give me a further discount ontop of that.Carry and home defense is the point. Hunter Abrams
So I bought a auto ordnance 1911 gi ww2.Now I want to replace the grips as the standard ones are brown plastic. Need help finding U.S. stamped wood ones. Any help from the bored ones would greatly be appreciated.

Cyphre Iredell
Legit wood ones are the ones people remove for cooler grips. Like VZ Grips: http://vzgrips.com/
Markius Fox
From Springfield Armory GI 1911sLeft side: http://www.opticspla...and-pi5161.htmlRight side: http://www.opticspla...and-pi5162.htmlI dunno why they don't sell them together though. From Kimber:Army: http://store.kimbera...71/Default.aspxNavy: http://store.kimbera...73/Default.aspxMarine Corps: http://store.kimbera...70/Default.aspxAir Force: http://store.kimbera.../2/Default.aspxPlain Double Diamond: http://store.kimbera.../2/Default.aspxIn all honesty, the original platform for the GI is brown plastic. And here is a site that sells vintage GI issue 1911 grips.http://www.simpsonlt...3486a95723a4f41For 15 bucks a pair too. (Yeah, I know the Auto Ordinance has brown plastic and the last link is pretty much the same thing. But those are still a consideration as they hold some historical value to them. At least to me.) Markius Fox
Smith & Wesson 1911 with Mecgar mags, full length guide rod, scalloped ejection port?, and 'speed bump' grip safety. Looks good man. Not a fan of Hex grip screws, I have them on my Kimber, need to get some flatheads sometime.

Tsume Xiao
For the record, AlumaGrips is the place I worked with to get the custom Ordo Imperialis grips for Aryte's Birthday. If you want the ability to customize your grip to your liking (thickness, checkering style, checkering depth, engraving/etching, colors) they are pretty bad ass. Hunter Abrams
When it comes to classic arms I prefer wood. But that's me. Also the slide has "MODEL 1911A1 U.S. ARMY". So having U.S. or Army insignia on the grips will set it the way I think would look nice. I'm not exactly tactical. So all these modern grips are not exactly to my liking on a classic firearm. Also thanks for the links guys. Was looking for a few hours at work. :p
