    Then again... WE should have seen this coming... First Window 8 - Which is a horrible OS for gaming (or pretty much anything but social and basic media).

     

    Not true, Win8 is probably the fastest OS i've used to run games. I've not had one problem yet.

    There are more benifits of course being a member and that only starts once they've applied via an enlistment office post.

    Check out some of the streaming software Twitch provides, or Livestream, whatever your preference will be, I use OBS as stated. You can make your own account to stream to start, regularly inform your friends about your streaming and others in game and go from there. I'll also be posting Streams on this thread's original post and i'll add all 'associate broadcasters' to Ordo's and my stream'.

    Over the last few months now, I've been streaming regularly to Twitch.tv with OBS.  With the right settings, anyone with a semi-decent upload (at least 1mg) should be able to stream without network impact. You don't have to have a camera or a green screen  but it's nice to offer that connection to your viewers,  we even have an Ordo stream if you don't want to make your own. Twitch also stores several recordings for you on their servers for a few weeks, depending on length and size. Unregistered viewing has ads, unless you're Turbo.


     


    Last month I also contacted Twitch about helping set up an Ordo team. Teams are a more centralized member stream, like MLG's or The Utensils, something we could easily do, but would need more dedicated streamers! Since teams are still supposedly in testing and partner based they responded with information about their subscription program and aren't taking applications at this time. Subscribing and turbo streaming are paid services, so we'll have to wait and see. General streaming though is free enough and provides more than we really need. Livestream accepted our application and has great recording/broadcasting software, but unfortunately just isn't centralized around gaming.

    i've researched it and done a little, but made absolutely nothing doing it... The calculations are so tiny you don't make shit (this was when it was brand new though, so it could be a lot better now)

    What is Forum based role play?
          Forum role play is a slower more lengthy type of turn-by-turn, post-by-post based role play. According to Wikipedia there are several styles of forum roleplay, genre's and preferences. Forum and chat role play were one of the first forms of role play and has played a major part of much of the world's entertainment and media today. The type of story, participants, environment and preferences are dependant and mediated by the host of the thread and continues by them and player characters (PC), or participants afterward with in character (IC) posts or actions carrying on a story.

    How does it work?
          Forum based role-play starts off as an application process, where the original poster (OP), host (H), a designated mediator (M) or game master (GM) starts a new topic with partial story details including environment, genre and what kind of player's they may be looking for. Players post in accordance with the host's application process and after applications are closed and players accepted, the host starts the story of to which the players may react or respond to through the posting in the thread.

    Are there any rules?
          As a given, every poster are expected to follow the constitutional protocol set in our codex unless deemed acceptable by the role of the story or approved by the game master/s. Other rules are generally set by the game master/s of the story or thread in the first post/s. Posts usually consist of actions that take no longer than five (5) minutes to complete depending on the situation at hand.
     
    How do I get started?
    ...as a Game Master?
          Game Master's are the originators, mediators and tellers of the story. They set the environment, challenge the participants and create goals. They also make sure the story is going the right direction, ensure balance and following of standards. They'll usually play a story character or multiple non-player characters (NPC's) to help the story along. Game Masters may let a story run it's course with only a little intervention or they my be heavily involved with goals or story directionals but they should always be prepared though to keep the story rolling for a good amount of time and have something prepared for the participants on a regular basis until it is ended or closed.

          If you'd like to take part as a game master, don't be afraid to do so, all you need is a rules, direction, environment and genre. Starting a role play thread consists of posting this information, with a request or application process for users to apply for a few days that you may look over and accept based on character or story needs. Once you've accepted a group of players, you may either post in the original thread, or start a new one with previous post reference links and start the storyline.

    ...as a Player?
          Players may post under roleplay applications to a game master's request. The duty of the player are to play a character whom is immersed into an environment and genre the game master has set for the players. The separation of in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) should always be followed to separate one and the other by the use of ((OOC)) separation and bring a solid story to not only the other players and game master, but to other readers. This is your chance to play your part in an ongoing story in your own way. Since forum role play is generally a lengthy experience, you may be involved as much or as little as you like. Keep in mind, the more creative and active you are, the more successful you're likely to be and epic the story may become around who you are in the story.

     

          Approved players may post directly to the designated thread in response to any nearby action or previous post in the timeline of the story. Posts should be in reasonable increments to allow other players to respond or to allow the game master to push the story along. If a player no longer wishes to participate in a thread permanently or temporarily, they may role play being removed from the story or the game master may do so as they deem necessary. Permanent death is not a prefered way to remove a character from a story, as reintroduction even as an NPC may be possible.

    Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, 2013
    Day after day, police officers in every corner of America suit up, put on the badge, and carry out their sworn duty to protect and serve. They step out the door every morning without considering bravery or heroics. They stay focused on meeting their responsibilities. They concentrate on keeping their neighborhoods safe and doing right by their fellow officers. And with quiet courage, they help fulfill the demanding yet vital task of shielding our people from harm. It is work that deserves our deepest respect -- because when darkness and danger would threaten the peace, our police officers are there to step in, ready to lay down their lives to protect our own.

     

    This week, we pay solemn tribute to men and women who did. Setting aside fear and doubt, these officers made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the rule of law and the communities they loved. They heard the call to serve and answered it; braved the line of fire; charged toward the danger. Our hearts are heavy with their loss, and on Peace Officers Memorial Day, our Nation comes together to reflect on the legacy they left us.

     

    As we mark this occasion, let us remember that we can do no greater service to those who perished than by upholding what they fought to protect. That means doing everything we can to make our communities safer. It means putting cops back on the beat and supporting them with the tools and training they need. It means getting weapons of war off our streets and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals -- common-sense measures that would reduce gun violence and help officers do their job safely and effectively.

     

    Together, we can accomplish those goals. So as we take this time to honor law enforcement in big cities and small towns all across our country, let us join them in pursuit of a brighter tomorrow. Our police officers serve and sacrifice on our behalf every day, and as citizens, we owe them nothing less than our full and lasting support.

     

    By a joint resolution approved October 1, 1962, as amended (76 Stat. 676), and by Public Law 103-322, as amended (36 U.S.C. 136-137), the President has been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as "Peace Officers Memorial Day" and the week in which it falls as "Police Week."

     

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 15, 2013, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 12 through May 18, 2013, as Police Week. I call upon all Americans to observe these events with appropriate ceremonies and activities. I also call on Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, officials of the other territories subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, and appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day. I further encourage all Americans to display the flag at half-staff from their homes and businesses on that day.
