Altus Nirvana
All started at a range, where someone said "pass the ammo box" and another said "You mean Can" and so it begun. Ive posted this on a few other milsims ive been apart of, its had entertaining results. So I put forth this old debate to you all. Is it a Box of Ammo or an Ammo Can? (Yes, I dont have a floor in my room)
Acheron Gloom
According to my calculations Ammo Sardine Tin is the more prevalent term.

Cyphre Iredell
Can is a more classical term as references the original construct. The methodology of its use and presence was unrelated to the box of that era. Use of metal over other substances was also notable (versus wood or polymers). Lanny Ansar
I still call them Cans. But that's mostly because most of the ammo i've ever used was in the form of 7.62x39 ammunition, packed in individual cardboard BOXES of 20 rounds, and vaccu-sealed into a CAN, that required a special Opener (IE: Sardine Can). George Reisman
I still call them Cans. But that's mostly because I'm completely wrong. :DBut no, I could see how you would call THAT a can, but not a big 'ole box like the one above.
Tsume Xiao
I would call that a box. This is something I would call a can.I think of a box as something that is re-sealable, where as a can is one time open. Like tuna, sardines, soup... or beer.

Altus Nirvana
From the mounting evidence being compiled, its quite possible it could also be an ammo triangle.
