  1. Not entirely sure how to do it on an ASUS (as I've never used Vanilla android or whatever theme they are using), but on mine you just hit the menu button while in the app drawer and there is an option to 'hide applications'. I'm fairly certain its a native feature of ICS and not just Samsung...
  2. Geez Intus, GEEZ. Also, Android 4.0 (such as on the Galaxy S3) has the ability to 'hide' apps which also prevents the applications from automatically starting up. So you can clean out your app drawer in at least one way, even if not physically from the internal memory itself (an insignificant amount of space).
  3. The way I see it, the breakdown is pretty similar to the Mac vs PC debate. One offers the ability to do just about everything that anyone really does on a phone, with simple controls and a closed platform. The other is a much more customizable and power-user friendly device with a lot more options. It also comes down to familiarity of controls; Macs and iPhones are for people who just need a device to facebook, web browse, and message in some arbitrary format. Thats not to say it can't do more, but 'controls' are still limited. The latest iPhone 5 is nice, and a welcome improvement hardware-wise from their previous (un)progressive generations, but you'd be hard pressed to find one at the moment due to its recent release. The 4/4S isn't worth it because it was already a dated platform by the time they released the 4S. Either way, you're stuck with no removable battery and no removable media. All your date will have to be sync'd through iTunes. Not sure if they changed it now that they've gotten a 4G LTE phone, but I recall the market doesn't allow direct downloads of apps over a certain size over the air, and requires syncing through iTunes. Apple maps is also a joke. There are already countless hilarious pictures people have taken of their horrifically bad directions and inconsistency in locations. It would be one thing to simply be missing a POI on a map, and a whole other to be located some blocks or miles/km from its actual location. The 3D view is also pretty hilarious in some places. Currently there is no Google maps solution from the app store short of adding a safari shortcut to the URL. Although Google's statement seems to indicate they will release it as a separate app somewhere down the line. It'll probably be another year before Apple maps becomes useful to the majority of people who use it. All in all, start looking at Android phones. Plenty to choose from, all of which in the same price range. At the very least, head to your local carrier's store and try out the demo phones. Even with live wallpapers, my android phones have performed smoothly.
  4. Easiest way to get in since they are now offering it: http://www.planetside2.com/alpha-squad Albeit, at a cost, but its not like you'd be losing out.
  5. Damn, now we have to backtrack through the forums to see who won the bet...
  6. Definitely worth just the cost of the Station Cash. Although the half-off labor day sale was a more worthwhile purchase to acquire more.
  7. I'm definitely hoping they add a training simulator like the first Planetside had, especially with the number of new weapons and customizations available.
  8. TR are just the damned sexiest of all. You can just be a MAX. Weapon on each arm, and you fire them to kill people.
  9. Must limit region where I am then, as they've shown inaccessible.
  10. Haven't heard word on the opening of the EU servers yet. I imagine they need to hammer out the netcode in this current beta release with the testing of larger crowds on a single continent.
  11. TR all the way! Wooo! Word on the street is they are already sending out invites currently, but it will be pretty limited for the short run because they don't have the backend currently to house a thousand people on a server just yet. Basically still alpha at this stage and I believe Planetside veterans are getting first dibs.
  12. Was a great game because they could easily balance all the weapons to certain specifications without all the real steel business getting in the way.
  13. Thats the 'Digital Deluxe Edition' which is still absurd pricing considering their last MoH game.
  14. Most impressive current soundtrack for me is Max Payne 3. The song TEARS shows up during one of the later action sequences and I didn't even feel like ending the level because its so beautiful! />http://soundcloud.com/rockstargames/tears-by-health Can't get the widget to work...

  16. Well I'm sold! Better get one now... Carrious, if you have the zombies out-ranged, shooting them would only be useful if you were in fact attempting to move to a location that could be secured. Melee is the unfortunate side effect of not carrying enough loaded magazines. Yer talkin' like an F-4 Phantom!!
  17. Storefronts do so because people are already keenly aware of a sale occurring, as they do so regularly. All the run of the mill department stores have the same sales every year, so advertising for them is simply advertising exposure in general. You can't really compare them because the purpose of sales in storefronts are to gain more business, where people would otherwise not even bother going to that store in the first place, or make significant purchases (which is why most regular sales are within boundaries of a set quantity or dollar amount before benefit is gained). That doesn't work online because it's not a casual perusal of wares. Advertising an online sale beforehand merely tells people to bookmark a page and look at it some day later to make their purchase. Spring a sale at the last minute, and what you're catching are the people who had previously held back on a purchase (because they were simply unsure at the time) and are being enticed to spend on what they were already after, or possibly more. The people who were already after a certain item have already purchased it at full price and the business made full profit.
  18. Legit wood ones are the ones people remove for cooler grips. Like VZ Grips: http://vzgrips.com/
  19. Because they would make more if people purchased X game at full price. If someone were to buy a game regardless of a sale, they would make more off the time the sale was on. There is a pretty good reason nobody advertises an upcoming sale...
  20. Then they would lose potential sales and monies. Also, they were kind of stingy with Arma 2 sales last time. The original was always on sale, but not OA or the other expansions.
  21. Wow, there was an NC Vanguard tank with a huge wing/spoiler on it! They certainly are taking a more interesting route for camo pattern customization... Anyway, for those who didn't get the memo, everyone who had played the original and subscribed at one point has been given 45 days of play for one last hurrah! Pretty massive combat with poplocked continents left and right. Also, bonuses for number of years (since your character started) and all faction vehicles are accessible if you are certed for it (such as, having the tank cert means you can spawn a Magrider, Marauder, or Vanguard). I've been having a blast, and the parade earlier killed the servers practically. Really fun to play still! />http://www.planetside2.com/news/planetside-day-2012
