Ron Bleac
Here's the army of Arthur Wellesley, First Duke of Wellington who fought at the battle of Waterloo in 1815 against the French Grand Army. This set of figures was constructed and painted for nearly 45 years and they total at 25,000 man strength. That is 2 and a half Napoleonic Divisions of troops, complete with artillery, cavalry and officer corps along with medical staff. It gives you a glimpse of what the British Grand Army may have looked like if standing in close order all together.[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqLoLKlbVuU&feature=related

Vain Composer
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure that's what I'd want to show for my life after 45 years... I mean it's cool but... 45 years?! D: just buy a Total War game.

Tsukiyomi Yuhara
When it comes time to invade miniature France you all wont be laughing at this guy. Better get your little green army men ready to get their ass kicked. Also, whole army done to a 1/72 scale.. Napolean's figurine done to a 1/32 scale I'm sure~

Lanny Ansar
500,000 pounds = about $805,000 USD.Yeah, considering that it takes most people 45 years to make that in a real job, I say it's a victory.
George Reisman
That's roughly 17 grand a year USD...
Jayce Iredell
Lets consider that he was probably doing this in his spare time, not full time.
RazorFox
Lets consider that he was probably doing this in his spare time, not full time.Yeah, I bet if you hired like a team of people to paint these full time, it'd probably be done in a few months and cost considerably less. Phares Sarjeant
Incredible Mr. Bleac. For those interested in the tactics at Waterloo, and some of the troop movements. http://en.wikipedia....leonic_strategy (yes wiki, i know) still something can be gleaned by those interested. One lesson learned is that Nappoleans enemies apparently studied his methods by this time, and then applied them effectively to his demise. (he initially attempted to cross the anglo-allies supply lines via indirect approach to dislocate their forces, only to have the Prussians attack with their own movement to the french rear.) Tactics don't change much. Application of tactics change drastically due to technology improvements, land features, medium they are engaged in(ie land, water, air etc.) ~The true military genius, after planning, and observing the battle can visualize the exact pressure points, that will force the enemy to do what he doesn't want to, and know where his own win's and losses will occur. Shizzerk
Thats pretty impressive. That guy painting all those figures for 45 years, probably on his free time, cant be any worse than people playing video games for hours every day. At least what he does is productive. Eriksson Foxtrot
The return profit on that wouldn't be too much. I'd wager it costed him lots of $$$ to boot buying (and continuing to buy) materials to complete his project over the 45 year time span. However, I suppose the $500 000 is a hefty lump sum he could invest in his retirement from whatever he's doing with. All in all, that project is pretty epic.

RazorFox
Video games increase hand-eye coordination.I dunno, I've been playing video games for 18 years and I still can't hit a baseball.
Agares Tretiak
It increases hand eye coordination, but you still need to practice various types in order to do them well. Hitting a baseball is actually some what difficult on the spectrum of things you can do with eye hand coordination, as it requires some other factors as well.
