  1. That is a well-composed speech. Couldn't say anything better myself. I would argue that the SLMC is just going through a rough patch, but I am also going to be optimistic. With some of the tools that are coming out and have been out, we may see the SLMC reinvent itself. Such as pathfinding and mesh. I'm replying from my phone at this time, but I'll elaborate in a different thread when I get home.
  2. ...and I'm thinking of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising when you say that. I have it, but I have yet to start at a server.
  3. That doesn't apply to me until Sept. 24. >.>; Quarter system (meaning 10-12 week courses, 4 terms, 3 of which are normal (Fall, Winter, Spring)).
  4. If you haven't seen this series, at least see Dorkness Rising (which is the sequel to the first one). Anyway, they're hosting a kickstarter campaign for the third movie...and I'll let their blurb say it (Click here).
  5. It depends on the Tabletop situation, the GM, and the tools. Some Tabletop RPGs have miniatures and a map that can be laid out, other GMs use laptops and use that way to visualize the map. Some of them use whiteboards to help you visualize what you see, map-wise.
  6. I'm also a Noob at the WH40k RPG (but not to RPG in general). It's not all that difficult to play. Just have a lot of d10s (10-sided dice).

  8. Adding onto what Blaze said, you will also need some sort of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) program, such as Skype or Teamspeak OR some sort of text chat system. VoIP is easier to do, and gets things done faster. Fillable PDFs of the Character sheet are always a plus. You can send the GM you character sheet, updated and legible, as needed. Saving that, you can scan the character sheet, or use a spreadsheet application (like Excel and OpenOffice Calc) to send this information. Tabletop roleplays are usually done in this fashion through the internet, but there are additional tools that actually enhance it, such as a tool that simulates minatures placement for dungeon maps.
  9. Well, I will be putting up a copy of Torchlight and Torchlight II in a future contest.
  10. Which is probably why I spent $20 on Torchlight and Torchlight II, whom the (former) developers of Blizzard North (the people behind Diablo and Diablo II) created and founded the developer making those games.
  11. Personally, I would like to drive a Subaru (and I've actually gone hunting in one. Hunting in NE Oregon + Snow...think about it). Manual, Automatic, CVT...I don't care what transmission. Although, I am intrigued by my mother's Subaru's manual transmission. 6 gears (not counting the reverse gear) and it's smallish...kinda want to drive it a bit, see how it goes.
  12. It's on sale on Steam right now for $13.50 (Really, only $1.50 off the price), with beta access coming mid-month. Anyone getting it?
  13. I found this on Kickstarter, and it's a parody of modern video game culture about the origins of those characters (yes, there are both Starfox and Pokemon parodies there. Even a couple of Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda, and a set of three involving a famous fighting game). http://kck.st/NIbLax
  14. @Carrious: You into steampunk?

  16. Here's my Desktop's desktop (WARNING: 1080p size (1920x1080)):
  17. Not to mention that the lastest BF2142 patch actually gives you the Northern Expansion pack for free (1.51, which was released Feb 2011 for PC only).
  18. Heh, too bad you weren't stranded in Oregon. Then again, if you were, you would probably have very competent mechanics working on your vehicle (not meaning to put down any other place).
  19. Speaking of BF2142, I actually have it. Also, if you only have the first game, you have the expansion pack automatically with the latest patch.
  20. Game companies are getting greedy. By the way, Starcraft II is still $50
  21. Civ IV theme (Baba Yetu): [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJiHDmyhE1A Video Games Live (PBS) duet version (and this is an epic one, sorry about the talking heads at the beginning): [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u_EWzmvI8E
