  1. Tribes 2 had zero to do with Planetside. Jetpacks and spinfusors are entirely different from infantry and vehicular combat.
  2. You've all witnessed it here. It is neither and instead a clip.
  3. Can is a more classical term as references the original construct. The methodology of its use and presence was unrelated to the box of that era. Use of metal over other substances was also notable (versus wood or polymers).
  4. I was in the original Real Time Worlds beta as well as Reloaded. And while I liked the idea of a Free to Play model they were aiming for, especially with the obvious failure of the original, they attempted to severely limit options. It wasn't a bad route at the start, -- such as limiting the number of decals per clothing or vehicle -- but having MOST of the decals and all additional fonts locked without a premium account (and the chance that you would unlock them at the end of missions) was certainly a stretch, especially without any significant intrinsic benefits to having a premium account. Their cash shop is ridiculous overpriced (a big topic in the forums), though there is certainly nothing stopping anyone from grinding their character to unlock weapons normally. Factions gave way to Contacts in regards to unlock paths, requiring significant time spent on unlocking various paths of clothing, weapons, or vehicles. However, ultimately what the failed at were putting up decent servers. When the average ping of a server in the same county as me is 100-200, it's a little ridiculous, and I feel bad for those on the east coast who were in my clan. With regard to actual gameplay, it gets repetitive and grindy for the amount of missions you need to clear on a single contact before they are max level. Though it is just fun to drive around at times, even if the dump trucks got nerfed.
  5. Thats because they weren't. All others whom have tried failed at being an FPS first and foremost. This is taking the same concepts from the first, and expounding upon it by making all land capturable, essentially. Not just towers and facilities, but every piece of landscape. Can't wait to hear more from the panel tomorrow.
  6. http://www.planetside2.com It's going to be amazing. Now I just wonder about the impact it'll have on the SLMC! Who else is stoked for the arrival of a true MMOFPS? Image gallery of all that was presented at Fan Faire: />http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14242769/planetside-2/images/planetside-2-20110707055649835.html?page=mediaFull Live coverage of the Planetside 2 panel tomorrow! />http://www.planetside-universe.com/p-fan-faire-2011-live-coverage-67.htm
  7. The first one looks more like a production company header prior to the actual title offering. Like if it was 'The Ordo Imperialis Presents:' followed by the second.
  8. APB I was glad finally moved to a F2P model, however the free content was severely limited by overall level to unlock things per contact. They rebalanced all the weapons, so anyone who played the original won't like it initially and think the TTK is too low on everything, or their favorite gun isn't as good, blah blah blah. However, the only real problem with current APB: Reloaded is their shit servers. That, or whatever networking they could possibly be using that gives me 120-250 ping on a server in the same county where I live. And since you can die just as easily in lost packets rather than one on one combat, it does make the difference. Brink is alright, and it was never hyped all that bad to make it seem any more revolutionary than it was. The classes themselves are a bit sparse, with singular goals, however. The only thing to really not like is movement speed, which was probably hindered by their free-running mechanic that also is terrible from the first person perspective. The game probably would've been considerably better if it was just third person in the first place so their silly free-running animations weren't to waste, and movement speed wouldn't seem so slow. Stats on weapons were also pretty silly and nonsensical, and character customization was far more limited than what was let on. It's not so much that you have to unlock the majority of items, but the cliche face options go from 'okay' to 'downright silly' Although I do love how you can change the voice, at least. Of games that were a waste of my money: Breach: $20 Indie devs needs to get on the ball with shooters because this didn't cut it. Might have had some new mechanics to them, but there was nothing to look forward to, and the basis for the engine had no more depth than the original Red Faction running on Havok/Geomod. A nice idea, executed poorly all around. Call of Duty: Black Ops: $60 Sadly, lived up to the joking statements by the Bulletstorm team! Anyone who played Duty Calls would just laugh through most of this game because of the ridiculous number of cut scenes and lack of actually... PLAYING the game. Multiplayer was a nice improvement, but that couldn't even constitute a DLC for the previous Modern Warfare 2
  9. Actually Black Ops had one out first like a year ago or more, but I think it wasn't a part of their catalog for very long. Pretty ridiculous when people get on about this silliness. I imagine this isn't a new affair, much like releases that coincide with game-related weapons, or anything that isn't armalite or AK. Makes me wonder if there were other strange IMs like this due to the release of other weapons, like the AA12 or something.
  10. I sort of brought up the same point the many years ago it was originally suggested, and no matter how you play it, it isn't the same as training. Random training among random individuals, such as Sunday stress tests, are entirely different than putting Praetorians or an alpha squad against 'everyone else' because you are specifically grouping certain individuals based upon their given ranks or cohors. Which is all good and well when going up against enemy bases, but not against Ordo itself. Animosity breeds when someone can classify all of a person as being one of 'them' rather than being in the very same military under the same commanders. Then all we end up with are threads throwing vague accusations of dissension among the populace! XD Ventrilo communication will always break down when people don't shut the hell up. For all anyone knows, the OIC may have been trying to communicate to no avail. Did you see the thread Firefox posted on TS3, krow?
  11. Morale is just as important as defaming their terrorist network. One can never succeed so long as even one of them survives, but so long as their become less relevant, we've struck a major blow against their raging stupidity.
  12. *gasp!* You mean just like people currently do, only without fishing?
  13. You don't, it's effective range is 600, so sight apertures are built to the possible max, just like the AR platforms 5.56x45 with an effective range of 800. Doesn't mean any bullet is accurate to that range, there is simply enough energy to penetrate a soft target. Anything beyond 300 has negligible accuracy outside a bolt action with an effective barrel length.
  14. It would be cool for the sake of an 'Extended Universe' with regard to future Ordo literature and histories. Not necessarily having anything to do with SL itself, more for the token of understanding the far-reaching basis for stories that people would want to write. Like Star Wars! :D
  15. Damn, could probably buy a whole other bike for that amount of money...
  16. I got an invite into the beta a while back and I was like, "You know, I'm already playing Bad Company 2..."
  17. One of those things that will have to wait for mesh because of how avatar attachments don't really agree with 'suits' of any kind.
  18. As a note to my own score on Z, I know Matt Bellamy is a tough act to follow! :D
  19. Moar like gendaito, if I am interpreting the horribly translated wording there.
